I came home from work one friday, totally p155ed off, no matter how much effort I put in the job seems to grow and I get extra stuff to do to make up for someone who......., no, not on an open forum :-X
So A couple of cans to relax, thinking how could I relax more at work, well I have recently moved the repair/test facility to a larger room at the bottom of the factory so I could take the guitar in and practise at lunchtimes. Mmm another can, I could do with an amp, something classy, a quick look on fleabay, plenty bargains, look Marshall amps currently no or 99p bids, great so I stick a few quid on, you know you are not going to win a Marshall for a few quid, so you stick a £5 on here, a £5 on there etc.
I woke up on Sat morning to read the Email " congratulations hope you enjoy your Marshall amplifier..." :o :o :o Oh Sh1T..... what have I bought :o :o
However a Marshall 150W amp for £2.50 is not bad.........Trouble is I got to go down to Norfolk to pick it up ;D ;D ;D

If you are not in a hurry OOF relay?
-
Done that myself a couple or more times...... ::) :-[ ::) Next day open up the emails and find 'you are the winning bidder' and mostly been on cars, there have been times when I have really not recalled what I have placed a bid on and had to go and look........ :-X In my defence, there are times when I see something and think I will have a punt, put a max bid on and see what happens, in all cases the deal would have been a good one...........just don't tell swmbo.... ::) ::) ::)

where abouts in Norfolk - could possibly do a relay run up to the midlands? Pm if you want help
-
Hope it's a proper one with valves in. :P

I've a friend who put in a stupidly low bid, and went to bed.
When he checked his mail in the morning he discovered it was the only bid, and that he'd accidentally bought a Ferrari!
His wife didn't speak to him for over a week.

when i bid on the bay i do one bid only 10 sec b4 the end :y

Know the feeling Ken T, you wont believe the amount of
crap stuff Ive bought of the Bay after too many beers, then found have to travel half way round the planet to pick them up! :(
Waking up in the morning with splinting hangover and finding your laptop upside down at the bottom of the bed with your eBay message box full up with 'congratulations you won this'.
Still cant be as bad as the time I woke up with an uneaten Chilli Kebab under the bed clothes, thought I'd been shot with a sorn off in the middle of the night! :-[
Dont Drink and eBay, or Kababs for that matter.
Chris ;)

Why don't you do what 50% of bidders do, and just not bother to pick it up?
-
Some sellers deliberately set the end time to be a friday or saturday night for this exact reason! ;D
-
I got pissed up one night and went on William Hill casino. The wife came down at 3:30 to see what I was up to. I was winning about £800 on blackjack. She got all excited and went back to bed to plan her shopping trip. By the time I went to bed at 5 I'd lost it all again. Headache and massive grief next day :(

Sorry no valves on this one...............However I got an Orange PA amp to be fixed some time. Its been in a garden shed for some time ;D. Its all valve, I guess 120W. And someone gave me a Marshall Valve 10W (?) PA amp which is now behaving itself. ::)
Thanks for the offers of help with pickup, however I need to just do this, fill up the car with LPG :y and head off, prob on friday after work. I spent a chunk of last week trying to organise pickup, I could get it shipped for about £15 but they can't say what part of the day they will go, so no use, and I am gonna slip the seller an extra £10; he really got a bad deal, these normally sell for a lot.
Golden rule here, DONT SELL THINGS THAT END OVER A HOLIDAY WEEKEND. Most people are worrying about going away, not bidding on stuff. :P Talking of which there could be a few bargains next weekend.......

Hmm. :-\
Fixed an MG30 for a mate of mine recently. It seems the quality of the later solid state stuff is pretty poor. Proper bollywood soldering inside and every component absolutely cut to the bone so it's operating at its' limits.
The poor amplifier chip was on such a small heatsink that its external temperature was up to 120 degrees C with a minute or two's thrashing.
Still, if it needs a little TLC it's in the right hands, I guess. ;)
