Title: rear 12 volt supply
Post by: diyjoe on 28 May 2012, 04:16:13
Hi.  I am fitting parking sensors front and rear to a 2003 2.6 and need advice. The control box which is mounted in the boot area requires a
12v ignition supply but the wire supplied is very short, where can I find the nearest ignition switched supply, I have a feeling you are all going to shout on the ignition switch?

I should have a 12v supply, not sure if this switched or permanently live at the rear ciggy lighter, but this is dead. As every thing else is working, I presume there is a line fuse somewhere just for this lighter. Can any one help please.

there is a switched live on the tow bar wires plug ( rear next to the jack), have camara fitted to mine, make sure you fuse it with low fuse 10amp max. :y

Thanks for the advice, have found what I believe is a tow bar electrical socket centre right of boot under the trim, its square to round in shape. Twin sockets for tow bar have been soldered into the wires behind the socket including a auto change over switch. I have tested all of these wires but cannot find a live switched wire from the ignition. Any other suggestions please.

The factory parking sensors are powered by the reversing light supply.

You will probably find some pre-wiring for this in the spare wheel area in the boot.

thanks to all . Will have another look in daylight. The sensors are all working tested via permanent supply.

Had another look this morning. My F & R sensor kit has 4 connections, earth, break light, reversing light, and requires an ignition switched 12v supply. So I am back to square one. I think I will have to run another wire from ignition switch to boot.

Rear Ciggy lighter fuse still not located.

so dose the 12v ignition for the parking sensors front connect to the fuse of the ciggy lighter
