Title: Urgent - Courier or Cambelt Kit!!
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 28 May 2012, 20:08:56
I have a job booked for tomorrow and like a plank I have left one of the cambelt kits for it at Cas_Omegas place in west yorkshire!!

So in summary..

1) Is anyone travelling from the North between Castleford/Wakefield area and either Gloucestershire or Aylesbury tomorrow (M1 or M5)

2) Does anyone, more local to me the better, have a 2.6/3.2 cambelt kit I could beg/steal/borrow/buy - I can either purchase, or replace within 24 hours.

I'm so angry with myself it's unreal....

That was the first thing I thought of...  It's three hours each way....

I nearly grabbed the keys and headed up tonight (chap was kind enough to offer to put me up) and head to Aylesbury in the morning, but I'm just too tired to drive that far tonight, I'd be dangerous..

Do I start ringing dealers to try and get a kit first thing... or do I get in the MV6 at silly O clock and get up there before all the works traffic..  :-\

On a semi-serious note ....

could Cas_Omega possibly come down half way and meet you ??? one of the services maybe ??? might save you a few hours ??? you could pay his fuel if necessary ???

I wouldn't possibly ask anyone to do that because of my mistake.....

Surely there should be some kind of local factor that will stock a GM v6 cambelt kit - either local to me, or Buckinghamshire?

Would work out easier and cheaper than burning best part of £80 in fuel to collect the existing one...

Cheers mate, just replied. I really appreciate the kind offers, but I'm really not going to ask anyone (but myself) to drive in excess of 150 miles etc to pick this up.... a local factors must be an easier option...

Just realised I have the personal mobile no of a chap who runs a local car parts shop... he will make a call first thing, but reckons he can get one in by 11:30.... which would still make the day possible, could start by 1pm and easily get all the jobs done by early evening, with this weather.... so that's one card up the sleeve...

James,

Nearest Vauxhall Dealership to LFF64 is Perry's Vauxhall in Aylesbury on 01296 745247 and they accept ABS Trade Club Card. Might be worth a call if you are stuck.  :-\

Good call!!

Got one :y

Euro Car Parts Gloucester - £97 incl VAT to trade. So essentially £40 off their retail price. Bloke said strictly I should have an account, but a quick peek at my website and he was happy :y

Thank you all for your information and advice on sourcing this at such short notice :)

Just going to have some breakfast, run the Mrs into work (locally), pick it up, and then I'll be heading up to you, Mr LFF64 - See you around lunchtime :y :y

Cheers,
James

What's the difference between those kits?

According to the above I need this 9201887 kit.

I replaced the belt and all pulleys to SKF, the belt comes from Gates. I think I can start hearing them pulleys, hence I'd like to avoid them in future, unless I'm wrong.

Do you have any recommendations guys?
