Title: Oil change for 2.2 petrol ?
Post by: OmegaAnglesey on 30 May 2012, 20:48:58
Hi all  :) , I'm thinking about changing the oil and filter on my Omega within the next week or so but since owning it have never changed it, I would appreciate it if anyone chould recommend a link to eBay or somewhere or a shop, For Oil and a Filter for a Omega 2002 2.2i 16v Petrol Automatic Saloon with almost 104,000 on the clock, And is there any special way to do the oil change on Omega 2.2's?, Any other advice welcome... Thanks  ;)

Recommended VX own brand 10W-40 semi synth oil, bargain on trade club. Use genuine filter too. Nothing different about changing oil on Omgas but the filter housing may be stuck.

It is a cannister oil filter on the 2.2 and is very easy to acess from underneath the car once the plastic undertray is removed, but you might need a removal tool if it has been overtightened

re. oil filter removal : I`ve tried strap wrenchs etc which usually slip off, I`m only a keen amateur mech.  Smashing a screw driver thru does work, but is messy. So I got one of these from fleebay... Draper Expert 3 Leg Oil/Fuel Filter Removal Tool.  £10 & postage is extra.

.... and if you have a stupidly small oil pan like me don't forget kittylitter to take the spillages away.

note to self, must make oil pan expansion

i done filter from above and used a old cardboard box to direct it to the 99p tesco bowl

then i cleaned the bowl out with my sons t shirt out of the white charity bag that came through the letterbox and then gave the bowl to my wife as a gift to help her with the washing up.........

Just did this last weekend on my 2.2

oil filter can be got to from under the bonnet, i managed to get a strap wrench on it, easy change
oil 10-40 semi , sump plug has a 'star' type drive, so make sure you have one

made my car alot quieter with the oil change
