When i asked for help with a count of how many omega 3.2 v6 elite saloons where in service here in the U.K and about how much it a was valued
all i got was deletions and locks on my thread
Is this the way this open community works well apparently this is Kevin wood's Interpretation.
I have no Intention of selling it here, I even asked a few months ago about selling it here and was
informed about the 250 post rule which I complied with.
Read my post tell me what you think

There is a site some where that lists all cars still in circulation and road worthy (maybe all the taxed ones) but I cant remeber it.
As for you opening post here, the reply from andy was tounge in cheek regards being a car sale, but in all fairness you did hint the car is for sale ::) (EDit:- sorry your reply regards your post in the other thread)
Freedom of speech, yes with in the rules, the site admin are great and very leanient, but rules were made by us all as a united forum at the time, and yes we all agreed they were the best way to go.

We do have to moderate a large number of posts worded almost identically to yours from members who are attempting to advertise vehicles contrary to the forum guidelines. We endeavour to moderate all posts fairly, but must do so at face value without the benefit of knowing the posters actual intentions and, regardless of your actual intentions, your post was judged not to comply.
I should say post(s), in fact, because you posted the same text 5 times before being asked to refrain. ::)
Had you simply asked your two questions without mentioning an impending sale then we, no doubt, would not have judged the post to be breaching the guidelines.
..and as to freedom of speech, we try to allow as wide a range of discussion as possible here but complete freedom of speech would not result in the site we have today. Ultimately the boundaries are set by the forum guidelines for a multitude of reasons; some legal, some reflecting our desire to maintain a pleasant "family" site and some to avoid members getting ripped off by those who join up only to sell a car.
Hopefully you can appreciate the reasons behind the moderation of your posts.

Nobody wants anarchy , but what i did not like is the reply from him.take into account i am a newbie and I HAVE read the rules
There is a way of conducting yourself and moderators should be above reproach on this point
I Believe if i post his reply to me here everybody would agree it was terse and authoritarian

12 months membership though so you should have a grasp of the do`s and dont`s ::)

Figures for 2010 were 3.2 ELITE Saloon 482 OTR, 6 SORN
3.2 ELITE Estate 49 OTR, 1 SORN

I have also seem Kevins reply, perfectly in order imho.
fyi....this thread will also soon be deleted, as in effect it too is yet another sales thread.
we see many threads just like yours, and get a little tired of people trying to get around the rules, hence just delete them...most take the hint and realise its a fair cop.

Anyway to gather 250 posts is not serious challenge. I reged up here one year ago like you but I have more than 1000 posts supposedly due to being desired a really community - that I found here - not just make any business. I did nothing special just said hello on the Newbie section some times and was chating a lot of different omega owners. Sorry for my poor English but I felt I had to tell it.

TBH, you aren't coming across very well ;) If your ad was read as a veiled advert (which any comment about it being for sale somewhere is) then it's against the guidelines you have already said you've read ;)
Anyway, best way to try and put a value on it is to do a little research... Autotrader, eBay, etc. Put in the same spec as yours to start with and then work back like most of us have probably done in the past to sell a motor ;)
Finally, this site is the worst place to get a valuation or to sell an Omega anyway as we all want something for nothing ;D

Where is the logic in a system that would allow me to become a newbie today talk to everybody
in a week and get 250 posts easily,then con a sale from somebody. Or stop a member asking for advice after being a member for over a year
NOW THINK AND DON,T USE THE FUZZY LOGIC THAT YOU HAVE BEEN USING ALL THIS TIME.

That has happened in the past, hence going from no restriction, to 50, and now to 250 which has removed most the piss takers.
We dont like where we are, but it has evolved to this stage where we believe it is the best solution for the collective membership and admin team.
Sorry to say a few rogues in the past has spoiled it for everyone now.
Also remember this site costs money to run, every post adds a monetary cost in terms of storage, bandwidth to be viewed etc. We allow sales from members who have contributed (over 250 posts). We are not a free version of ebay, gumtree, local ad's etc
I appreciate its hard for people like yourself who have been a member for a long time, but have not joined in.
But that's where we are. No if's but's or doubt's.
All sales, and thinly veiled sales adverts from members without the requirements are deleted on sight, with no explanation normally, persistent tryers also earn a short ban to help the message sink in when necessary.

Another freeloader who thinks the world and the internet belongs to him. Not realising the time effort and finances put in to it by the mods and admins.
I have read the rules he said, yet still uses caps lock.
To Welsh_cossack: There are plenty of places where you can sell your car for free and at little cost, I suggest you go use them. Not because we dont want you here but because you will have more luck than this place, and I speak fom experience on this one. :y

I put the initial lock on the thread. I read it as yet another thinly disguised sales thread and I deleted a post from a longer established member who asked the OP for a price, miles and stuff. That was, in my view, inviting a response and rather than have the thread continue to balloon I locked it. I was at work and on the mobile and had to do a sharp exit from OOF due to work commitments.
Here is a very brief summation of pertinent points in the forum guidelines which the OP now assures us he has read and understood. The ..... parts are those portions snipped by me to keep the post from going away from the subject in question.
And I agree in entirety with Jimbobs call. :y
Posts which are outside these guidelines are subject to modification or even deletion by the Moderators. The decision of the Admin Team is final, and a long drawn out post mortem on any action or decision is never helpful.

Having read the original posts, I too take it as a invite for people interested in buying the car to get in touch.
Whilst there is always going to be an element of 'feel' and personal gut reaction to these types of threads, I believe the Admin Team normally are bang on with their judgements. Clearly, in these instances where we have to go purely on instinct (and the very extensive experience we have gained ;)), mistakes occasionally happen.
These mistakes usually stand out like a spare prick at a wedding afterwards. One of may ways of judging how right/wrong we were by how far the toys get thrown, and this thread tells me the original judgement is absolutely correct.
Incidentally, I am looking at Kevin Wood's PM to you, and think it is concise and accurate, and necessarily matter of fact.
The Admin Team give up a lot of their own personal time, effort, resources and money keeping this place running, and I know suspect a porportion of us rather wouldn't bother. So if you have a valid complaint, try putting it in a more constructive way, whereby a civil discussion can take place, rather than throwing a strop because you were so easily found out didn't get what you wanted. Thats a recommendation for any situation, not just OOF ;)

The mods give up a lot of their spare time, time after time they have weed out theses post/adverts. I think the decision to remove/lock elements of that post, are now irrelevant, its how you reacted in this thread, which shows your true colours.
No great loss here I feel.

This thread demonstrates the hard work and effort the Mods/ Admins put into this site just for the love of it. It is hard enough thankless task at the best of times but when some R 5 OUL pops up I bet they wonder WHY :(

Welcomed! :y Any of us might be "retard" in special situations but supposedly nobody see themselves as a "retard". Although you're right the most occasion in connection with slow mind people using this word is a double sharp stuff. :y
