Took the car to local dealer today who recharged the aircon, less than £50, and now works a treat. Happy days :y
On the down side, got a copy of the VHC (Visual Health Check) :'(
I already know I need tyres, but the mech also thinks the cam covers, diff oilseals, and rear shocks are leaking :'(
Oh, and the back box is 'holed and leaking' :-\
Ah well ........
On the subject of shocks, do I need to replace the self levellers with self levellers so to speak? Or will standard shocks suffice? Not sure if funds will stretch to Bilsteins as often recommended though.

Where did you use for the air con Jonny? Had Wells Tyres look at my air con but he said there was a leak but didn't know where from (don't think he knew what he was doing or wasn't interested in offering a fix as said it probably wasn't worth fixing, cheeky barsteward!)

If you have air suspension you need self leveling shocks, or you can change rear springs (non leveling springs needed) and put standard shocks

Used Ballyrobert Maurice, had no issues at all. Spoke to Gareth in the service dept, if you want to give him a shout. You can nip round if you want to compare it to your own?
You're probably right bigtime! They give you an itemised list with costs too - interestingly they want £265 to change the timing belt, and £234 to do the camcovers. And no, I'm not considering it!!!

If Wells are right and there is a leak I dread to think what Ballyrobert would charge for repairs Jonny. Need to gather up the funds first so will be awhile before I get it looked at anyhow. I was curious as to who you had used, thought it might have been an air con specialist, been trying to find one locally as I think that may be a better bet to get mine sorted.

I think motor tec at Balloo do it?
I admit I was dreading it too, but thankfully it turned out ok. I don't think they would do anything without asking you first, and at least you would know where the leak was if there is one?

Looked at bilsteins on the bay, and they're not too badly priced actually. Better than I expected, though the eibach springs are worse than I thought :-\
I'm going to clean them up for now, and sort the immediate issues for MOT later this month. Then I'll have to decide whether to simply replace the existing self levellers for like, or change the lot :-X
