Had my omega for a week now and loving the sound of the v6. Was thinking of fitting a sports air intake/induction kit to give it a bit more roar, but have seen some threads on here which say its a bad idea. Any thoughts guys??

Some non standard filters that need to be oiled contaminate the MAF sensor with the oil
-
Each to there own really :y

A mate told me that a diesel omega intake would give me the desired noise, any thoughts on this?? ???
-
Be careful of oiled filters, they ruin the MAFs.
Additionally in every single case I've seen, not usig the standard setup has reduced performance.

Diesel Omegas use virtually the same airbox setup. Methinks you mate is talking guff ;)

I'm not looking for any more performance, more than happy with whats there would just like a bit more grunt with the power as its fairly quiet at the minute!!
-
I've currently got a small hole in the exhaust just after the middle box. A real growler!
Swap?! ;)

Drill your airbox then. Big drill bit and stick some holes in the base of the airbox and the side facing the wing. You'll get a nice roar. I stuck a K&N panel filter in mine too.

cheers tgm sounds like a plan.
Thanks grrrr but i think I'll try tgm idea 1st :y

Not having your centre section connected to back box, helps with noise ::) :-X

Try drilling holes in that flexy tube on the middle exhaust ;D
When on my old Lancia it went 1.6 litres roared like dodge viper with a blown exhaust.
Could be heard from far FAR away :D
But it was damn embarassing to drive like that

Problem is, it's then taking in warm air from the engine bay, which is a real performance killer.
If GM could have avoided that duct that runs round to the front of the radiator, they would have done. Nobody believes that the standard air intake is optimal, yet, as said, nobody has yet truly improved it. ;)

Stick a microphone inside the Plenum just behind the Throttle Bodies and connect it to your stereo, your soon get bored with the noise.
;)

Considering the big v6 under the bonnet they are quite though , only time i ever hear anything is when there is a slight rasp from the tail pipe ::)
-
Cheers for the tips lad, not sure wat to do now as I dont want to hurt the performance. Its not exhaust noise I'm after would just like a bit more roar from the engine, just sounds too quiet I think!!?? :-\

It's the nature of the car, it was designed to be a silent cruiser ;)

Starting to think your right tunnie, seems every way I go is gonna cause problems n I dont want that!! maybe the microphone in the plenum is the way forward for me ;D
