Title: brake pads...
Post by: blackviper90210 on 01 June 2012, 14:57:38
Hi all, I know it was mentioned a short time ago, but can't find the post :(

Need to check, but think my front brake pads are needing a change, what is the best but cheaper option please?

For 3.2 elite saloon.

TIA.

TC pads probably. £15, I think (going by what I've read here) TC pads on their own are ok but when they come as part of disc + pad set the squeal and have no feel. Mine, part of a disc/pad set started squealing after two weeks and are pants but my brake fluid needs changing.

If you're feeling flash, you can opt for OE pads @ £76  ???

I did, he only has used mini facelift sets :(

Just have to hunt around.  When I left you I noticed that a low braking, it was starting to sound a little rough  ::)

Oh well, just general maintenance :o

Are Mintex pads any good?

Yes mate I believe they are a good make but I'm somebody else will be able to clarify  :y

Mintex do make some good pads but remember they also have a budget range. I had a disc / pad set on my MFL V6 and they squealed even more than GM pads and when stopping from 70mph the car snaked, although that could have been due to suspension issues.

I'd suggest you try andyc.  TC price is £18 including the vat.

I'm back in bury every month so can pick up for you and you can pick up from me ( i pass bromsgrove frequently on my way between coventry and worcester) so we can arrange something if you want.  Pm if interested

Cheers for the offer mate!

I just poppped down to my local stealers, asked if they had any in stock and if they took trade card..... Answer, of course we take trade card, no problem!

We have the pads in stock here too, excellent but I don't have a trade card yet  :(    No problem, you can still have them!!

Less than £18 later I have the pads  :D :D :D :D :D

Thanks for all the advice guys, now sorted :y

TC pads are fine on the Omega, if a little dusty.

I'd file a better chamfer on the leading edge only (the chamfers are naff).
