Hi all, I know it was mentioned a short time ago, but can't find the post :(
Need to check, but think my front brake pads are needing a change, what is the best but cheaper option please?
For 3.2 elite saloon.
TIA.
-
TC pads probably. £15, I think (going by what I've read here) TC pads on their own are ok but when they come as part of disc + pad set the squeal and have no feel. Mine, part of a disc/pad set started squealing after two weeks and are pants but my brake fluid needs changing.
If you're feeling flash, you can opt for OE pads @ £76 ???
-
Cheers SMD, just need to find someone local with TC and plead nicely to get me some ::) ;D ;D
-
Dave give Jon a shout, I think he has some sets spare / for sale? :y
-
Nice one Paul, I'll drop him a PM :y
I forgot to tell you that your passenger side reversing light was out mate ;)
I'll also make a note to bring another rear light lense & battery bag for you too :y
-
Yeah drop him a PM as I know he did have some sets in his garage :y
Thanks for letting me know mate ;D
Good to see you today and thanks for helping me out ;) :y

Your welcome mate! It was great meeting you and your better half. I did mean to say thank you too for supplying me with the coffee that was much appreciated.
I enjoyed today..... meeting a new mate and getting the work down with no grief :y :y
-
Likewise Dave and it was nice to meet you and your little Matthew also :y
Look forward to next Sunday and hopefully I will start to fall in love with the car again :D
Best wishes mate :y
-
How can you not love your mig, it looks good mate AND you've had all the engine sorted by a man who knows his stuff :y
We'll get the interior sorted and you'll be back on the road in no time ;)
-
Excellent mate ;D
Can't wait to be honest, I've missed her :D ::)
Did you send Jon a PM re brake pads?
I'm sure he has got some but I may be wrong :y
-
Can't you get it from andyc?
-
I did, he only has used mini facelift sets :(
Just have to hunt around. When I left you I noticed that a low braking, it was starting to sound a little rough ::)
Oh well, just general maintenance :o
-
Oh sorry to hear that mate :(
My next idea was to give AndyC a shout as mentioned already mate, he may be able to do you a good deal on a set :y
-
Are Mintex pads any good?
-
Yes mate I believe they are a good make but I'm somebody else will be able to clarify :y
-
Mintex do make some good pads but remember they also have a budget range. I had a disc / pad set on my MFL V6 and they squealed even more than GM pads and when stopping from 70mph the car snaked, although that could have been due to suspension issues.

Cheers for the replies guys :y

I'd suggest you try andyc. TC price is £18 including the vat.
I'm back in bury every month so can pick up for you and you can pick up from me ( i pass bromsgrove frequently on my way between coventry and worcester) so we can arrange something if you want. Pm if interested

Cheers for the offer mate!
I just poppped down to my local stealers, asked if they had any in stock and if they took trade card..... Answer, of course we take trade card, no problem!
We have the pads in stock here too, excellent but I don't have a trade card yet :( No problem, you can still have them!!
Less than £18 later I have the pads :D :D :D :D :D
Thanks for all the advice guys, now sorted :y

-
Just as well then TB, just got some OE from my local stealers :y

TC pads are fine on the Omega, if a little dusty.
I'd file a better chamfer on the leading edge only (the chamfers are naff).
