Title: Money or your health - Fosters drinkers only
Post by: pscocoa on 02 June 2012, 18:56:34
I have found a box of Fosters which is over 12 months old. Tastes ok after leaving in fridge for a couple of days. Would you drink it - it was best before March 2011.

Thanks - all my family ditch stuff as soon as - which really p*****s me off - hate to see waste.

Not sure if it is their health they are worried about or a chance for them to put the cans in the recycling.

Anyhow will press on with drinking it

It could make you sick and give you a headache, but that's normal  :y

I am prepared to risk it 8)

Luckily I do take alcohol well - careful choice of wines means no headaches - vintage Fosters could be a challenge though

I heard a thing on the radio a while back with the official definitions of these dates from the Food Standards people;

"Best Before" - will not spoil and become toxic, but may lose some flavour/texture after this date, safe to consume past the date.
"Use By" - may spoil and become toxic/cause food poisoning after this date, do not consume.

'course there's a margin of error built into all of these things, too ;) I've been known to use somewhat 'gamey' chicken, for example, and I'm still alive to tell the tale ;D

Amen to that. Drink it.. It can't get any worse than the day it was brewed. ;)
