Title: Fitted microphones
Post by: Gr1msdale on 06 June 2012, 11:08:07
The interior light unit on my 02 2.2 CD version appears to have microphones fitted either side of the interior light unit. If this is the case then are there any other clues that I can look for to see if hands-free phone use is available in the vehicle? I have the CCCR2007 head unit fitted with no steering wheel controls allocated to mobile phone operation.

Never heard of a cccr2007

Omegas came with ccrt2008 (with built in phone) or ccr2006 (or NCDC series or CDR2005)

But the mic (for my CCRT700) is central to my interior light, not either side  ;) ;)

There was also a CART2007 that was used by GM around the time - but unusual to find one in an Omega ?

Never standard, and I believe never a factory option...

:'( Oops, sorry guys, I've clouded the waters somewhat. When I put my specs on and actually looked at the unit it is a CDR 2005! So, same question as previously but hopefully I've given sufficient correct information now for the boffins amongst you. APOLOGIES all round!

OK, no problem.

That unit has a lo-fi mono aux in, along with a mute, for phone kits.

If you have a little 4" aerial on saloon roof, its fairly trivial to add a phone kit.

:'( Just checked the CDR 2005 VDO HU again and cannot see an aux socket anywhere. Is this an internal wiring job as the handbook refers me to Vauxhall fitters? I do have the stubby aerial, roof mounted. Could the devices either side of the interior light fitting possibly be alarm sensors and not microphones?

If the car is prewired for phone, as described earlier, then fitting a phone kit is easier.  Thats a glovebox out job. If not prewired, bit harder, as radio has to come out, and loom modified.
