greetings,
Anyone know how to find out which engine was fitted to my 2.2CD facelift?. Is it stamped on the block somewhere?. Looking about it seems that its either a Y22SE, or a Z22XE. I am getting near the time for the dreaded cambelt/tensioner change (78K miles!), any one know of a good place to buy a kit?. Last quote I got was for £122 for the kit, and £57 for the water pump. Ouch!, esp this close to Xmas!

Remember the cambelt & tensioners need changing every 40k or 4 years ;)
Not every 80k as Vauxhall first said

Thanks for the information. I have only had the car for 9 months, and hope the last owners serviced her regularly!.

Where abouts are you....somebody close by may be able to get trade prices.
By teh way, the only key difference between the two engines is the ECU.....the cambelt and water pump are the same.

Thanks for that,
I live in Gomersal, just off the M62 at the Bradford junction. I was asking about the engine type, cause I have been thinking about LPG, and there's a guy on Ebay selling a set from a 2.0 Omega, sequential, currently at £175. Its made by TD systems, which I think is Polish, and looking at their website they said that a couple of the cars it will NOT work with is the Astra or Signum using the Z22YH engine. I'd hate to go all the work of installation, only to find that it didn't run!.

Z22TY is a VERy different lump....full alloy, timing chains etc etc.
The 2.2 in the Omega is just a stroked 2.0 (slightly longer block) with a slightly modified injection system
