Title: Newbie and cheeky enough to ask for PAS help
Post by: blackiemc on 12 June 2012, 20:08:25
Hello all,
Just found this great site yesterday, wish I had found it two weeks earlier and I would have saved a couple of quid.

Quick explanation, I recently bought a '98 petrol omega and that means I am now the proud owner of two, one's a 98, one's a '99. Was hoping it was a good move but my better half won't drive the 'new arrival' due to power assisted steering (PAS) not working at idle revs. It seems to work when cold, but not when warmed up.

I guess it's the pump, but when I saw all of the mention here about servotronic relay I decided I should rule that out (easy coz I have a double for each part). Only when I accessed behind the glovebox there were only two relays a green and a grey, and no red one that everyone who knows their omegas was talking about. I checked both cars - same. Checked behind fusebox under steering - no red relay to be seen. Checked under the bonnet, the '99 has a red relay in there, the '98 hasn't.

What am I asking:
Is this probably a pump issue?
Do I have omegas with no servotronic relay?? If not can anyone guess where it is

Thanks for reading, will try to be a helper instead of a leach after this post

I'm pretty sure that the 2.0lt engines didn't get servotronic but someone who knows for sure will be along soon  :y
