Title: tyre load index
Post by: pauls on 16 June 2012, 12:14:41
Hi it looks like I have just bought a set of 17" I know the tyre size should be 235 45 17 but can anybody tell me what the correct load index is please. My last tyres on my 16s where 97xl and iam sure that effected the road ride(felt very bumpy)

cheers Paul.

The load index shouldn't affect ride. Its side wall height that affects it most. On the Omega you don't need XL tyres, normal load is enough. Although I found the XL to be cheaper than the normals, possibly as the normal ones had to be ordered in, so at present its XL's on my car and has no affect on ride quality.

Edited to add I won't tell you what brand tyres I have to prevent TB from having a hissy fit.

93 94 and 97 all been fitted on mine in the past iirc... Can't say I was able to notice any traits related to eachone tbh. Except the nightmare Falkens where 97 I'm fairly sure. :-\
