overtaking in a built up area is bad, using a mobile phone worse  :( the final straw for me is that the car is virtually on a pedestrian crossing  .....

Still at least no injuries.

we saw the aftermath of a bus and merc sprinter going head to head in telford 2day...no back doors on the sprinter it looked like they got the driver outa the van that way!!!...not good on a friday...too many people speeding around in the wet and not paying full attention to the road... >:( :(

i'll say something though, this rd is quite long and i dont think justifies a 30mph limit, few crossings and thats it i think, it seems to take forever to get to the end. but as you say hes a plonker, and deserves what penalty he gets

With all the technology today, why oh why do people still talk on hand held phones?
I see people every day on the phone... The picture is an example of what could happen...
Imagine if someone had been crossing the road.....
It's only pure luck no one was killed.....
Was the call worth it?
I doubt it!

Because, I suspect, whilst it's now illegal with no ifs or buts, there is still very little chance of getting your collar felt. >:(

You know, it wouldn't be difficult to put a little Receiver into speed camera housings to detect phone RF. Obviously some sort of directional aerial, pointing the same way as the laser.

Was just thinking that myself.

Would still need a human to check all the pictures for hand held use though. :-/

Yes, but if they went to look at the car, surely you would see if a hands free kit had been installed, and if the cost of fitting such a kit was more than the fine, then it might disuade them.
I continually see clowns in the Leeds area, there is always somebody speeds past me on my way to work, only for me to catch up with him at the next set of lights, and the other night there was congestion on the M621, so several cars used the hard shoulder. Their cars must have very hard/rought rides if they have to get home that quickly to get out of them. Perhaps they should drive Omega's  :y :y

if someone rings your phone, but you dont answer it, or your phone recieves a text, and you dont read it, because you're driving... signals would still be picked up

Yeah, OK, I ain't a mobile phone expert, so the photos would be needed, but it might stop these people who's minds are obviously not on the road. I was stopped at lights today because the car 2 in front did not move on the green light. I wonder why ?
