This morning I go out the back where I work and a big black crow is going mad at something. So go take a look and there is a mother duck with one duckling. She is agitated and calling, so I look around and over the wall is another duckling running around in a panic and no way to get back to mum.
So I climb over wall and after chasing duckling, you can imagine the scene, duckling that can fit in one hand being chased by 6 foot four inches of overweight me ;D
Anyway finally catch the little beggar, it was lovely, wanted to take it home really but mum was calling so I quickly set it down and raced to mum and they waddled off together in silence. Gave me really good feeling inside, sorry to be soppy but I like animals.

It is funny you should say that, I used to work with a chap that went shooting on private land as a hobby. He shot crows, magpies and pigeons I think. At the time I had no real opinion and when the hunting ban came along I was mildly a supporter of banning it. Now when the only birds I see are crows, magpies and pigeons I am not so sure.
The British countryside has been managed for generations, perhaps a balance could have been worked out. :-\

I don't think nature needs any more intervention from man. If we just left it alone it would find its own balance :y
Well done Manta :y

There's no ban on shooting Crows, Magpies & Pigeons. Only Fox hunting (thanks to Liebour).
Good on you for the rescue of the Duckling :y :y :y :y Seems we're all rescuing birds lately :) :)
