As requested by other members, some details about my Capri.
It's a 1977 MK2 Capri 1.3L. It had lots of the factory options fitted. Tinted windows, rostyle wheels, front spoiler, load cover etc.
Has been in the family since nearly new. The first owner delivered it to the local Ford dealer for a service and the dealership was flooded, as was the town, back in 1978. My uncle was the bodyshop manager there and bought the car to use as an apprentice project. They built a big bath and put the body in it to wash out the salt water. Then they rebuilt it with Waxoyl everywhere. I mean everywhere. Under the bonnet was black with sticky Waxoyl. I spent hours trying to get it off under the bonnet but gave up with it looking better than it was but not perfect ::)
Anyway. My Unc' used the car for a while before he got something newer. The Capri then spent a good while on the shop floor as a display. After he retired, it went home with him, but never got any use. So he sold it to me for the cost of an MOT!! :y
I've done much too it since then ( about 7 years ago). All electric connections under the bonnet had verdegri and I fitted a new fuse box, relocated under the dash, new leads, distributor, contact less ignition, coil, fan thermostat for the original electric fan upgrade from years ago, 6 pod dash with associated wiring, added a vacuum gauge, clock, modern stereo with a small sub and amp ( I like bass as I like reggae!!), retro slip on head rests, rear window blind. I'm sure there is more I can't remember right now. I also put back the MK2 grill and rear lights. Added a Mini fog light in the vacant tow eye hole and engine mods to follow. Added the chrome front and rear window surrounds and gave some TLC to the bodywork.

Engine suffers from some blowby. I decided to resist the temptation to change the engine. Bought a mates Granada Pinto, but sold it on. Only a few 1300's left in the country, so the decision was made. Despite my hot rod mates pressurizing me into putting a V8 in.
I've fitted a mexico head, 28/36 DCD carb re jetted with 1300GT inlet manifold, four branch exhaust manifold, deleted the PCV system and fitted an oil catch can. IT was doing 0-60 in 24 seconds. I couldn't live with that. It now does it in 15 seconds which is more reasonable.

I had a MK1 facelift 1600, which I bought to go on honeymoon. Went all over England, Wales and Scotland in it. I wish I never sold that either.

i had mine given to me as a wedding present from my fathers friend,he gave me the keys to the car he said your wedding present is outside,so i looked in the car and the boot but could'nt see anything then he laughed and said the present is the car,oh boy the smile on my face ;D was a picture.

But, no way. This will stay in the family. I have the Deuce, my daughter the Pop and my step daughter will have the Capri.

yup, I had a 2.0 V4 corsair as my first car.... swapped it out for a 3.0 V6 essex lump..... EVIL ....... looked like a knackered antique, went like a bloody rocket.... :D

I once owned a 73 (M) 1600 XL. White with a BVR. Looked great, drove like a lorry. :y
Cambelt snapped but luckily didn't take the valves with it. :y

Nice motor there mate :y. Always liked the capris, used to get the odd shot of an ex bosses 2.8, loved it.
I've said for years I'd like to see a new "modern" version brought out. I reckon it would sell.
