Does anyone have experience of the above company with regards to claims, service etc?
I had my renewal quote from Saga for £495 so did a bit of looking around and Aviva comes in at £280 for more or less the same thing. I called Saga to let them lower the quote and they said " To price match they wanted details of the other quote" so I sent them the quote but doubt very much they'll come in at the Aviva price so I will switch.
I use Saga for house insurance and they were very good with my claim for a shed break in, settling the claim via cheque in a week all via phone and online, so I want to give them a chance

It's a few years ago since I used swinon, but they (iirc) were very good.
The only problem I found (and still find!) is that they love their junk mail.
Aviva (Norwich Union) used to be, and may still be, *terrible*.
"Non native-english speaking" call centre - get them off script and they don't have a clue, and
even when "on-script", I got the impression they were being deliberately obstructive and using the
communication difficulty to put me off from claiming.

I used Swinton last year and when my renewal came through it was nearly double. so I went to my local branch and asked them if they could do any better and no all they could come up with was we can do £100 off and that was it. I even said that if they matched the year before I'd stay even though I could get insurance £50 cheaper than they were but no the couldn't so I went with chauncer direct hope this helps

Before you make a decision, take a minute to check out Go compare,my usual insurer quoted £409 for my 3.2,I got it with Privelige for £222 and while I was speaking to them I renewed my house insurance with them, our present insurers Lloyds just under £1000 for a 5 bed house, again Privelige quoted on a Platinum policy £330,saved a shed load of money, since then I've insured my 3.0 and again they just matched the 3.2 at £222.We have never shopped around and always accepted premiums from our usual insurers with no questions asked...Durr!! it really does pay to check out the alternatives as we have spent £1000's over the past years needlessly ::) ::)

In got a quote from Swinton last time round (never took it up) and I will NEVER deal with them again. The number of nuisance calls I got from them afterwards was incredible. At the time, Mrs. KW was ill at home and she was getting several calls a day from them. Each time they were told that we wouldn't be dealing with them if they were the last company on earth and advised NOT to call again. Time and again I requested that they remove my contact details from their system only to be phoned back with another nuisance call a couple of hours later and be told "oh, this is the life insurance department. We have separate systems to the car insurance". >:(
Words can't really describe how I feel about this outfit.
If you insist on dealing with these sphincters take my advice. Get a freebie PAYG SIM, call them, giving NO further contact details, then bin the SIM. >:(

Been with Aviva for about 3 years now. Not had any problems, but not had reason to claim either.

I claimed with aviva two years ago. Excellent service. No problems at all.

Swinton are a broker, nothing more. And once they have your details, you get bombarded with emails and calls, which do subside if you tell them to stop.

I'm sure they get commission for every call they make. They're best quote was nearly 3 times my renewal one. The only way to stop the calls is to threaten to report each individual person who calls you for harrassment, failing that: "let me stop you there. Did I ask you to ring me 5 times a day?" ' er, well no, but can I interest you in..' " No. So fcku off!" This was readily shortened to "Fcku off" Calls stopped after 2 weeks. Be warned though, they ring you from various area codes and from mobile numbers.

Again +1
Apparantly there is no internet in India, and you cannot speak to some one in the UK because that's a different department. They also pay their repairers significant bonuses for make repairs as cheap as possible. In my case they merely repainted the bumper following a shunt heavy enough to bend the towbar. Took nearly two weeks to get the car repaired properly, total repair cost, second time was £750. They did however settle the rest of the claim fairly quickly, but wanted to see my full accounts before settling the loss of earnings

When you say 'tell' them I take it you mean in a plain and easy to understand way... ;D
