Title: Cam Kits
Post by: mhwest on 03 July 2012, 20:24:08
HI lads
Looking for Cam belt kit and water pumps that are not Vauxhall make, a bit pricey  even with vauxhall club card so looking for a reliable make to replace them, there seems quite a few makes on the market any news would help thanks ;)

Contitech or Gates will be quality kits with SKF bearings, and a lot cheaper

make sure tensioners are replaced as well as it is them that seem to fail, some members also change water pump at same time (just to be safe ) :y

4 pot then essential to look at the waterpump as a failure there throws the belt off.  For normal size engines it is not essential - WP is aux belt driven

Did a cam belt change a number of years ago on a 2.5 CDX, ring spanner was a straight one so could do with a crank one for ease but not sure which one it was , it is the one that fits the guide roller adjusters so need size before starting job, the car is also a 2.5 facelift model

Thanks again I will use full kit and new water pump spanner was the issue as I have a number of large ring ones but could not remember which one it was,it was at the time not ideal so will buy another with a good crank on it :ywill have a go in a couple of weeks garage seems a bit tighter must be the facelift bumpers ???
