All depends what flavour Facelift you have, if your after the OE look, the Facelifts were fitted with the NCDC 2013/15 with either GID or CID (Colour) Screens and where configured for either Non Bose or Bose set ups, with the Bose bit out the way, if you have a MID fitted (MV6 Factory, CD/X, Elite) then they can be retrofitted with some additional wiring.

If yours is a GLS then a lot more difficult and probably a non starter as it probably wont have all the sensors on the Car to drive Info Display side of things.

Bottom line, if it answers the question, is Yes but its not all Plug and Play.

Yes, perfectly possible to retrofit NCDC2013 (easy) or 2015 (more challenging).  The security is a pain, as the devices are paired.

If a GLS or plod, disable check control on the display via tech2.

Do you disable the check control before you remove the old display?

You disable check control on the display you wish to use.

was checking around, the factory fit stuff can be quite pricey.

My motor is a 2.5td  CD

it came with a tape deck which i binned for a crd500 i think it was.

He mentions it's a facelift but fitted a cdr500, which is a single DIN unit. That would suggest pre/mini facelift  ???

He also mentions not wanting to shell out on an expensive aftermarket double din head unit.

I suspect it's a facelift (very rare to see a 2001 MFL, although I know it's possible), and the unit referred to is a CDR2005.  :y

Now watch me be proved completely wrong!  ::) ;D

I suppose if money is an issue, nothing to stop him throwing in a cheap Phillips Carin SatNav system out of a PreFace, they are pretty much stand alone assuming you can find somewhere to hide the Screen and Control Knob, not sure what the latest Disks are available though. But just a thought.

sorry for the really late reply but yes its a 2005 i fitted, my mistake.  It seems to be an awful huge expense to fit a standard sat nav :-( will just have to brush up on my map reading skills i think

You could always do what I have done, permanently wire in a power supply to a sat nav holder and position it just below the digital display.  Now I just pop the sat nav onto the holder and it's powered up. It sits below the display so I can see both and it still sees satellites through the foam dash.   I did consider bolting it in permanently but thieves would likely smash the window before discovering that.

not a bad idea, but since ive had the car ive only used a sat nav once so i think i'll just keep her as is.  If need be i can live with sucker cupping it to the window once every 6 months and clean off the ring
