Title: The tale of Eric, the idle ECU.
Post by: jtypecav on 07 July 2012, 15:31:21
Even despite an inordinate amount of advice from members in this thread (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=104473.msg1308105#msg1308105) we basically ran out of steam in terms of diagnosis, and yet, I couldn't escape a couple of niggles blighting me.

Why couldn't it calculate load properly?
Why was anything past 49% of throttle "invalid"
Why did speed pulses appear and dissapear?

Yet everything else in terms of data looked OK?

Seems the Y26SE has some funny foibles when the ECU is duff. I've never seen one so perfectly reproduce such a bizarre / specific fault.

Anyway, despite advice to the contrary I leapt (too ambitiously perhaps) at the first ECU that was available with 2 chips and the barrel. Member Twiglet got it in the post and I had it the next day (thanks for the other offers too - testiment to the site that I got several replies!).

So I fitted it this morning in the pouring rain this morning, and whilst I have the orange spanner (I'm assuming because it still has the auto programme that I can get Tech2'd away) MY GOD IT WAS GOOD TO GET IT FLYING AGAIN!! ;D ;D Almost as nippy as the 3.0, and as good if not better off the mark.

So I Just wanted to say thanks to everyone  that replied!!  :y

I'm now a member of the elite club of people where it was the ECU all along! Going to have to take it to billing instead of a MK2 now as it's so clean.

Glad you have finally sorted your problems with the car.

I wasn't one of the people who contacted you to offer you a replacement e.c.u. set but you did contact me about these items, seems quite rude of you not to respond to either my messages since...

Cheers,
Rich.

And what are you hoping to achieve by being aggressive?

And what are you hoping to achieve by being aggressive?

My intentions were to gain the attention of the o.p. due to being ignored via p.m.

Also aggression wasn't the emotion I was trying to portray.

It's just that I was p.m.'d by the o.p. regarding the 2.6 that I'm breaking and I took the time to reply to that message but got no response.
I then sent another message politely asking for a reply but again was ignored.

So thats a private matter that should be kept to PM, not a public thread ;)

I'm sorry I couldn't get back to you quickly, including yourself and one other person I'd been advised to contact. It's been a hell of a time here. The reason the car needed sorting so badly was because I was in Lincs this weekend for a funeral, where the car had to play a part for family, My office is moving AND I've had sporadic internet thanks to BT and their ability to fix the neighbours internet and destroy my phone line in the progress.  :-\

The whole reason I posted up was to thank everyone for their offer and support and offering my help in anyway in return to any members near or far.

I'm sorry if it wound you up mate. I'll try to reply same day to anything in future.

Cheers, Rich.

No probs mate. It was a simple courtesy I shouldn't have let it slide regardless.
