I decided to put k-seal in my mig to try and fix the suspected head gasket leak.
So far it's working and the leak has stopped.
I thought that I might as well give it a try as the mig was just standing there. At least this way I'll be able to use it.
How long do you think it will last? :-*
-
You ought to start a poll Kate!!!
-
Please let me know what you think. Will the k-seal repair fail soon or will it last?

Hi Kate. On the Rover forum i also belong to, the guys put it in their Honda V6's which are very prone to HGF & they swear by it & they say it lasts quite a while, but it's the piece of string syndrome.
It's it, it's doing its job so far, so time will tell.
-
I recon it wont last long :(
-
dunno how long it might last kate but it would probably be advisable to take it to wherever its going to get fixed asap :y

I would but money's really tight at the moment. :-*

know the feeling, fingers and toes crossed then and use it as little as possible ;)

It might hold for a good-while in a small hole like a weeping radiator Kate, but if it`s a big leak; like your head gasket, coolant bridge etc. I think it`s not going to be long `till the leak`s back again I`m afraid. :'(
My advice is: take advantage of the really-kind offers by the guys on O.O.F; and engineer a 'breakdown' so that your recovery people can recover the car and carry it to a convenient place for the O.O.F boys to work.
The generous, 'expert' repair deal* the O.O.F boys can offer you, just couldn`t be bettered ANYWHERE!.....
*You should "Bite their Hands off", sweetie! :y

Kate,
I dont want to sound rude here, but, this time last week we had the same conversation....
Then K seal was and still is a temperary measure so you could get your car down here be it my house or Timbuks. I had spoken to Mark DTM on your behalf picking his brains, he suggested the K Seal like I told you, then we had every Tom, Dick and Harry telling you not to do that, not to do this, not to use your green flag to get your car down here.
I understand you must be so confused as reading all the posts So am I! but everything I said to you was to try and help you in the easiest and cheapest way possible.
-
Yes Darren I appreciate your help very much. I definitely want to get my car down to you or Timbuks but I have had such an ear bashing about this you wouldn't believe.
My partner has nagged and nagged me to get rid of the mig but I have managed to get out of it by saying we need to sell the private reg first.
It's hard to think straight with all the screaming and shouting and general aggressive behaviour.
I thought if I could just stop the leak I would be able to hang on to the car and eventually persuade my partner let me take it down to yours. To be honest I am a bit scared of her but at least I've still got the mig at the moment. She acts in such an aggressive way that I end up all confused as to what to do.
When you said you could come to mine to fix it that was great but the screaming and shouting might start again if I suggest taking it to the midlands.
Thanks again Darren! :y
I do hope to be able to get the mig to you sometime!
You must think I'm really daft. Sorry!
-
By the sounds of it Not Daft :o :o
Don’t want to interfere but was she like this even before you got your Mig?

Yes she's always been like that.

hopefully it will hold up kate until the oof boys can do the job properly ive used it on my old 825 rover and was still going strong 10k later i hope you will be this lucky

Congratulations Now that did not hurt did it.?
So what if it does not last ? stick another bottle in to hell with the expence.
Next time you will have a bit more confidence, I have no dought that it will last, I only used half the bottle the other half is in the back.
Now the acid questions, what does the car run like, would anyone who did not know what you used suspect a head gasket.
I bought mine as "head gasket gone" but after following this forum and one from the other side, for a very long time before i bought one, I was confident because everyone agrees it is a very vey rare event, who was it who said that with yours it was only the second one he knew of, on that basis alone it would have been a mistake to have rushed in and changed them at present. Without proof positive.
Now at your leisure you can check a few other things out, whilst using it.
The 38% wont's will be made up of change the parts for new, correct me if I am wrong but isnt that what the modern so called "mechanic" does. GM's bottom line does very very well, but without my and a few others on here's help.
-
Very good advice justme thank you very much! :y
-
It's running great now! :y
