Title: Coolant leak running down rear N/S, towards crank sensor area
Post by: GastronomicKleptomaniac on 17 July 2012, 17:48:31
Noticed while I was pratting about with the aforementioned, the reason for failure could well be the dribble of coolant running down the back of the engine and around the sensor - I intend on taking it to my friendly garage and putting it on the ramps, whereabouts should I be concentrating my search? Coolant loss is almost negligible, I top it up maybe every three months with 100mls or so...

Culprit could be HBV, coolant bridge or water hoses in that area.

Try a pressure test on the cooling system to find out exactly where it is coming from

It can also leak from the oil cooler plate

In my recent experience it could choose to leak from anywhere.

In the last month mine leaked from the oil cooler plate, the matrix quick fit connections, the HBV and the coolant bridge to HBV hose. In that order..... ???

Ta all - I'll get it steamed off, and run it for a bit, then work my way into the middle of the V to have a good look :y
