Title: I need help....
Post by: Sir Tigger KC on 18 July 2012, 16:25:09
..... to understand this!  :-\  Being abit of a country bumpkin I can't see why London bus drivers, tube drivers, and train drivers are getting bonuses of between £500 and £900 to do their job during the Olympics....  :-\  Are they doing extra shifts? Are the clients going to be more difficult? Are the underground tunnels going to be darker?  ::)

I don't get it!! Is simply that they have Boris by the short and curlies??  ???  ::)

Oh, it's much harder to drive a bus / train when other people are enjoying themselves. Of course they need extra pay. ::)

I hope they don't get paid in advance, and the payment is cancelled after the olympics, due to an EU ruling on elf and safety. ::) ::) ;D ;D

Aah, that's an easy one, we live in modern day Britain – based on recent history, need anything more be said?

They have a militant greedy union and weak management - seemples. ;)
Plus.....they are actually willing to go on strike and stick together. Unusual in the modern trades union movement.

Yes, and for no justifiable reason whatsoever. Just greed and the opportunity to threaten to throw the Olympics into <Edit> more chaos.

And as public servants they should collectively have their contracts terminated, but that would be even more unusual from a modern British Govt. ;) ;D

They're not public servants.

Afaik they are employed by the state or London authorities in one form or another ? TFL isnt a private company. ???

They work for 27 different companies. I wish management hadn't backed down, it would have made the olympics slightly interesting.

If they work for 27 different compamies how come they collectively demanded the same thing and they all got it ?
You would think one company from twenty seven would have a senior manger somewhere with a pair of gonads. :-\
And where does TFL come into it then ?

27 firms all running services based on contracts resulting from tendering for routes operated on TfLs behalf ::)
One union representing the lot...

Unite, the worlds finest oxymoron, run by the worlds finest morons :-X

So TFL subcontracts it to the companies, and TFL pays them from the public purse presumably,in which case they are public servants in all but name.So - sack them and then shoot them in front of their familes. :y ;D

G4S must be public servants then. Let's sack them.

I have paid into my own pension for years, but Gormless Brown nicked half off it.So if and when I get my measly state pension they will just be paying me back what he nicked. :P ;)

No you haven't. That's a myth. You've been paying for the people who were pensioners while you were working. The young generation are paying for you right now.

If I were them, I'd demand a rebate cause you're a waste of good food. ;D
