Ok chaps, where do I begin
After resealing the cam cover gaskets on a v6 and we started the engine to see if any more leaks appeared thankfully there was none so my mate then made his way home. After joining the M4 at junction 11 the oil light came on then a knocking noise, with that he pulled over onto the hard shoulder and rang me to let me know what had happened. After a while he got recovered back to Maidenhead and he sent me a recording of the noise now it sounded like bottom end had gone but now thinking about it could it be the oil pump due to the oil light coming on as this would show that there is no or little oil pressure. Would like to know what it is so he can decide wether to repair or strip.
Any help and info would be appreciated.

Unfortunately I would suspect bottom end knackered :(
Whatever the reason for loss of oil pressure, whether it was oil pump failure or another reason it sounds as though the damage has been done especially at motorway speeds. :(

Could be crap blocking the oil pick up in the sump, I would check that first.

Was it just the rocker gaskets that you did or did you clean out the breathers too?
Any oil in it now? Any signs of oil leaking anywhere?

after doing the gaskets, when he broke down, he was told that the cam cover could be warped which would explain why the cam covers were leaking after the gaskets were replaced. The hoses for the breather were clear along with the breathers themselves, so everything was clear.

Indeed. How much sealant was on the old cam covers? Just wondering if someone has previously plastered the sealant all over the place to try to get it to seal and it's ended up in the sump?

Where all the o-rings retrieved?
Never seen warped covers. Something of a myth that one IMO.

the edges go wavey, gasket gets spat out the side. :y

Yes, a common fault on Saabs too.

Only ever seen ones physically damaged by some 'tard going at them with a breaker bar to stop leaks. With the exception of ones where people break the corners prising them off.
