Hello all.
In the middle of changing the thermostat on my V6 and have hit a major snag!
Followed this superb guide......
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90603.msg1155505
........ but now at the stage where I need to disconnect the link pipe and cant. My problem is the torx bolt that secures the link pipe bracket just below the hoist bracket. It is impossible to get to while the engine is in the bay so as suggested in the guide I used a 10mm spanner, in fact I went down to a 3/8" ring as this was an even better fit. Problem is, its stripped the splines off. In a nut shell, at this point I seem to be well and truly boll*xed >:(
Short of removing the engine and tig welding a nut on the end of the thing I'm at a bit of a loss ???
So............. does anyone have any tricks to offer, is it even possible to remove the thermostat housing without removing the link pipe? I would imagine that this isnt possible to do so I guess we're back to any tricks to remove this sodding bolt?
Anyway, I'd appreciate any input folks.
Cheers, Chris

Have you removed the PAS fluid reservoir and pipework as that will give you a better area to work in.
That B bolt shouldn,t really be that tight although if you have lost all the grip area off the head only option would be either trying to force a smaller shallow socket onto it or possible a set of thin nosed mole grips just to get it started then back to the spanner.
Not sure if there is enough room to get a cut into the head then try knocking it around.

yeah i agree mate. mine wasnt on tight but as you say theres not that much room even with the pas resevoir out the way.
thin long nosed pliers i would have thought would suffiece... if you can manouver them in there :y

All done now with thanks to martin24 for meeting up and providing me with a replacement transfer pipe! :y
One little niggle though, after 'oiking' the PAS res out of the way to gain better access to the B(astard) bolt I appear to have disturbed the hose clamp on the PAS res pipe and lost the contents of the res to the road ::)
My Q is, can I use an alternative to whatever is in there to start with as I have some clutch fluid and ATF already.
Only asking to avoid buying yet more stuff as I have already spent almost £300 on the old girl this last couple of days :'(

Cancel that, have found out through a friend that the two are not the same.
