Title: F1; who do you support?
Post by: Webby the Bear on 24 July 2012, 23:55:35
I've been watching F1 this season. I've never ever been in to it but since learning mechanics I've found it really interesting. I especially like to see the stuff that goes on in the garages and the pit-lanes. Sad I know lol

Anyway, like all sports fans you need a team to support. But I'm stumped:

Red Bull I understand are a ''local'' team but it's a Renault and I hate all things French (sorry to anyone who may be French on here)
McLaren. I absolutely detest Lewis Hamilton and I'm not overly keen on Button. Yes he's English...buuuut just dont want to cheer him on. cant explain why lol
I really like Vettel. He seems like a genuinely good guy but again he's a Renault,

So. who do you cheer on? if you watch it at all that is  :)

It changes. Williams back when Mansell was king. Followed by Hill. Can't stand Ferrari they can disapear up their own rear end it's fine by me. Although, got to respect Alonso's driving. Not many people drive round the outside of Scumaker like Alonso did At Suzuka.
Mclaren currently. I think they have the two most talented drivers in f1 currently. There seems to be sumat wrong with team support, they keep getting into good positions then cocking it up. Although they seem to have sorted the pit stops now, did I see a world record quickest stop at the German gp...?
Deresta  seems talented and the Team are good.
Lotus I want to see do well.

So I guess it's home teams and drivers for me.

Virtually all the F1 teams have a presence in the UK, it is something the Brits are very good at. I support the local drivers. I can't stand vettel and the australian idiot I would not give the time of day to after he insulted Barrichello a couple of years back.

Williams we should support as the the last of the old teams.

I don't do F1. They're like footballers, overpaid shower of shite.

BTCC all the way for me :y :y I don't really have a team that I follow, I just love to watch them do battle 8) 8) 8) 8)

Touring cars, both British and especially European, I found rather dull. Tbh. Not to mention Slow. :-\

They seem to brake suspension parts and dnf almost as often as F1 cars.

I'm a big F1 fan, and have watched it for many years.  Although you cannot deny Alonso's talent, the driver I always want to see do well is Mark Webber.  Although he may not have been born in the UK, he lives in Oxford now (unlike Button and Hamilton), and he's definately the one I'd want to go for a pint with.  :y

I hate Alonso but can't deny he's probably the best driver, not keen on Hamilton either. I always watch to see how Button gets on but think he's lost interest at the moment and just picking up his pay packet ::)

I quite like Kimi Räikkönen and Grosjean

The Sam Michaels effect ;) ;) notice the vast improvement at Williams as soon as he went to McLaren  ::)

Been a keen follower for years.

Jacky Stewart, not Hill (both), Lauda, Prost and surprisingly Mansell.
Villeneuve 1st not the 2nd
Senna of course as the best driver of all time but not Senna 2nd.

Of the current crop Alonso is good as is Hamilton. I support Hamilton till he retires by which time someone like Grossjean will replace him. Don't rate Button, Webber, Raikonnen but they are all right as number two's.

Always followed Williams when Mansell raced for them, then followed him to the Indy car championship. Now i like Button as he is nearly local being as Frome is just down the road. But after saying that Senna was by far the best and sadly taken before his time.  :y

I'll support whichever team wipes out the safety car.

If they can't ban that, then I'll support any driver that genuinely attempts proper overtakes (not the artificial overtaking crap currently devised), so hats off to Hamilton on that, despite being a smug idiot.  And I still admire ShitheadSchu, as he is prepared to race, despite being far too old.

Oh, soft spot for McLaren as well, due to family connections.

Always had a soft spot for Williams since Mansell's days with them, but always support our home grown talent so it has to be McLaren with Jenson and Lewis. :y Also been closely following Paul di Resta progress since he was in DTM - if he gets a decent drive I think he could be up there with the top guys. However, I think Alonso and Vettel are probably two of the best drivers out there at the moment.

Support Kobayashi .. AHHHHH BANZAIII! seems to be his approach to driving ;D

(Though personally I'm a Button fan more than anyone else.. Vettel annoys me, the cheating oik, Alonso is a dour faced git, Schumacher needs to hang up his Lederhosen, Hamilton is a whiny little .. "I got a puncture on lap 1. I want to retire now.".. Webber ought to have been great but seems to have lost his drive for anything and that's really the only ones I've paid attention to - Paul Di Resta is Scottish so I ignore him in the hopes he'll go back above Hadrians Wall.. ;) ;))
