Title: Misfire
Post by: greenman on 25 July 2012, 14:26:28
Misefire only under hard acceleration then clears
Emission light on
Runs fine on easy acceleration
Any ideas?

First things first: Are the plugs OK.

If the emission light is on there will be some codes stored too. Use the paperclip / pedal trick to read them.

Your engine type and size would help diagnosis. ;)

Checked the plugs

Ahh, true. 2.2 is a tricky one.

Was there any oil or water in the plug wells?

Did the coil pack look OK?

Plug wells were dry.
Base of the ceramic part of plugs look a bit burnt.

It could be leaky, I suppose. I'd say if the history of the plugs is unknown, or they have been in there a while (20k+) it would be worth trying a new set.

Would be good to read the codes and see if it's a misfire code and, indeed, cylinder 1.
