Title: Mrs Opti's Corsa fails it's M.O.T
Post by: Field Marshal Dr. Opti on 26 July 2012, 19:59:40
..........her 53 plate 1.2 SXI failed on split CV joint gaiters..........which according to the fail slip " no longer prevent the ingress of dirt"

It also had an advisory for rusty front brake discs. :'(

They fitted new gaiters while I waited, at a cost of £35 including V.A.T. This meant I received a pass slip and an M.O.T. that runs to 17th August 2013. A great feeling. :y

The front disc ARE very rusty, so I also purchased a pair of genuine Vx discs and pads which I'll fit myself at a later date. These cost £68 including V.A.T.

Yeah...yeah.....I know, with trade card (TC) they'd cost about £30. :-[......Pity my local Vauxhall dealer won't accept it.

Rusty discs you say , so do you mean they were rusty on the outer edge ...  :)

Mainly rusty on the back from what I could see.

Funny thing is this, "rusty discs" showed up as an advisory on the 2009 M.O.T.......vanished in 2010 and 2011 only to return in 2012.The discs have not been changed during the interim period. Spooky.....There are dark forces at large in the world of the M.O.T. tester.

Friendly tester explained that braking performance was fine.......so merely an advisory, rather than a fail. :y
