Title: Central locking problem
Post by: cam2502 on 27 July 2012, 16:22:48
Got the car on Monday and no problem until today, I've pressed the key fob to lock the car, it locks and then opens immediately again. Press to lock, same thing happens  ???

This has happened twice so far today. Dont want to worry that the car unlocks itself when it's out of sight. Any ideas?

one of the door locks is not hitting the switch, so is re opening, would think its drivers door, use key a few time see it that sorts it out.

What ???

It'll be one of the door lock motors on its way out, easy enough to replace and cheap enough at about £10 second hand ;)

May be a silly question but...can the weather affect the locking mechanism at all? Asking because it's only happened today and it's considerably hotter here than it has been since I got the car.

Its a common problem, i've just replaced 3 of mine which have worn over time and I haven't been bothered to change them when the first one went ::)

I had exactly the same problem a while back. I kind of just learned to live with it for a while as I never quite seemed to have the time to look into the fault properly. Then without warning my battery failed wholesale and needed  to be replaced. After replacing the battery the CL problem went away immediately ???

Don't ask me, all well that ends well I guess :y

Well I've tried using the key in the door to lock a few times now, it does lock the car, but that hasn't sorted othe problem as suggested it might :(

So as its bugging my happyness having to lock it with the key it looks like I'll try the motor next.
As a complete novice with anything, is it difficult to do? Is there a guide for it on OOF?
