My 5 yr old daughter has been after a puppy for ages now so we bit the bullet yesterday and got a lovely little bichon frise. The pup was fine on the 2 hr drive home and yesterday evening but the little b*****d was whining all bloody night. Now I now this is to be expected as its the first time away from its mum, new surroundings etc but I'm wondering if anyone has any tips on how to make it feel more at home/relaxed. I've got it a hot water bottle and alarm clock beside its bed but it doesnt seem to have made a difference. Its 8 weeks old yesterday. I can normally sleep thru anything but I got very little sleep last nite n I wont be held responsible if it keeps me up tonight lol. Any/all advice much appreciated

Ours (Westie) cried like a baby for three nights. We ended up putting her in bed with us and, after she'd fallen asleep, putting her on her own bed which is next to ours.
I really love her and will sit on a hard chair if she's asleep on the sofa. :-[

give her a an old soft toy so she has something to cuddle to,or just put her outside on the lead lol ;D

People told us to let her cry, she would get used to it, but I couldn't..

Could be a possibility, I'll keep it in mind for later, hope not to need it

Unfortunately its not an option as the neighbours would then be on my back!!! Was sorely tempted last nite tho. Ended up getting back into bed and sticking the earphones in, left the missus to it :y.
Of course the whole thing isnt helped by the fact that my daughter is loving the poor thing to death every waking minute!!

Wake her up when she falls asleep during the day, might be too tired to whine by bedtime lol
