Title: Service fluids amounts (capacity)
Post by: bootie on 01 August 2012, 08:49:24
This has probably been answered somewhere else but I couldn't find it on the search.
I am at work in Malaysia (again) so have no means of accessing mundane information such as , how much oil, coolant, brake fluid I need to purchase.

The car in question is the 2.5TD elite estate. I have just set up a trade club account with the local garage, now I need to order the correct quantity of service parts to make the big savings. I'm getting them to carry out a full service as I don't really know the history over the last couple of years before I bought it and that's me owned it for just over a year now.
I am going to have to get SWMBO to take the car in but I will (hopefully) have purchased all the parts required first so it will not be a case of, sorry sir, we need to order that in!

So could somebody please help me with quantities of said items so I don't go buying too little or too much.

I need Oil (10-40 Semi synth) for a complete change
Brake fluid for a complete change
Coolant for a complete change
Not sure about manual box fluid change...it doesn't feel as though it needs it.

I think that's it fluids wise, if anyone knows any better please let me know, I think I have driven it a total of 1500 miles myself since buying it. SWMBO has put about 3k on though!

Thanks in advance chaps/chapesses

Jon

oil is either 6litres with filter or 6.5,
manual box rearely needs changing although i do it as a matter of course every 50k
brake fluid depends how they do it but a litre should change it all,
think coolant capacity is 9 pints but not sure on that!!
have found power steering fluid is beneficial in changing it, but only use dex11 not 3!!
