I need a new exhaust. My mid boxes are rattling. No leaks or external rust surprisingly. But I cant stand the rattling. So its got to go.
Eternal are impossible to contact, and don't seem to have any 3.0/3.2 items in stock online either. So its Longlife as an alternative. Seem to get good reviews, seem to be reasonably quiet. Been quoted £399 for twin box setup mirroring the original setup. Sounds ok considering others want in excess of £500.
I know others on here have had Longlife exhausts. What sort of prices did you pay and what are your opinions of the system you have? I am looking for some feedback and average prices.

Long Life are excellent. Had mine fitted (Monaro) for nearly a year now without any problems :y :y
Where abouts are you?
-
Ouch!
I'd persevere with Eternal. If you want to speak to them, try early. Although they wont tell you anything you cant find out online. Wait 2 weeks, they'll probably have one...

Try [/i]Only Exhaust[/i] (http://stores.ebay.co.uk/ONLY-EXHAUST?_trksid=p4340.l2563) on Ebay.
I paid less than a hundred for my system (3.0 Estate) and the quality is very good.
A few others on here have ordered from them too and have so far been satisfied.

You sure there isn't a big lump of exhaust paste in there ??

No, its rattly even if I give it a rap.

Had a longlife system on our Subaru Forester 6 years ago no problems whatsoever worth the money if you intend keeping the car a while cost £380.00

Keith & Jamie that fitted mine are at Stambridge, Essex. 01702 258286/07841 777872
They're a father & son team & their work's very good.

D,
Have a complete Long Life system on my 98 Estate.
Come with lifetime warranty which can be transfered to new owner if you sell the car.
I rate them and recommend them. Depends on what you're looking for and if the quote is outside your budget.
I couldn't be more pleased with mine and really like the noise(s) it makes!
Is your car a keeper?
If not look elsewhere - plenty of suggestions so far in this thread
Long Life have a branch in Forest Hill - where in SE London are you?
If you want to come and see mine - go through the Blackwall tunnel and follow the A12 - and fancy looking at the underside of my car - come on over

Tbh, I have not been impressed with the ones I've seen and driven here. Main thing seems to be the cost saving aspect of replacing the duel pipe mid section with a single pipe and silencer.
They seem to feel flat on power and excessively noisy. Fit often leaves something to be desired too.
The only stainless system I'd concider is the Jetex. But then your limited to their rear silencers as the bore size is 68(?)mm and irmscher and stock size boxs won't fit.
It has a nice rasp when you boot it, but is in audible on a steady throttle. Still expensive though.
For the money, I'd stick with it on eternals web site which really is rubbish btw. But the parts are well made, cheap, and are as close to standard spec as you'll get. And that includes the current crop of vx poor excuse for an omega system. :)

i have a long life exhaust it was fitted before i brought the...it was also fitted at forest hills so the receipt say....and it does the job seems fine.... :y

I would also add, they have a nasty habbit of cutting the cat flange off and welding onto it. Rather than manufacture the correct join and bolting on.
This means if you have a cat issue or a pre cat code to fix, you either have to remove the entire system to re weld bosses, or have the joint re welded to new cats.
I'd consider that a bodge tbh. :(
-
As far as I can make out, they have agreed to replicate the layout like for like. "No cat flange cutting off" has been promised. They had another non Vx car in at the same time and the quality of work seemed very good tbh.
The quote is the Carshalton branch, seems to have good reviews. The one in Forest hill did not inspire confidence when I spoke to them.
Oh did not realise Gastech/Keith did longlife exhausts. May give them a call to get a quote as well.
Edit:
What it sounds like I do not know, thats my only unknown.

I just said "BEEFY" well that's what I got ;D ;D

D. Check out my vid on the "Another V8 Option" thread further down "General Car Chat" for the sound :y

Oh yes, thats proper beefy! Might be a bit too chav for the Omega though. Even though mine has 2 million bhp, Muhaha!

Did you manage to get pictures? Recall you saying the centre sections were double walled?
As Eternal do appear a bit crap for Omega exhausts now, not listing anything for 3.0 :(

Give Keith a ring (tell him I recommended him) & have a chat. He'll talk you through what options you have. You can choose what noise level you deem as ecceptable.

I didnt Im afraid as I couldnt get under the car. Im sure one of the other members did though. Have a look at the exhausts thread.

I'm with chrisgixer on this - every Stainless I've seen, and I have the pleasure to see many Omegas (and other cars), have been what can only be described as 'corners cut' (or bodged to use gixer's word), and are also tediously noisy. Even those where the owner reckons they are quiet.
Obviously some like the noise - thats personal choice!
Be aware, some of these longlife ones aren't designed properly, just welded up and bolted/bodged on. The one Amigo had on his old MV6 was a real power zapper. But for Amigo, the noise was more important than performance - again, personal choice.
The reason I use Eternal is they are a 'known' - they fit well, they are as quiet as the original GM ones (and certainly quieter than the new GM ones), and do not impact performance (which to me is important). And they are dirt cheap!
I put my money where my mouth is - I have another Eternal sat on my garage floor (still! ::)) to go on TBE. The Silver Bullet had an Eternal fitted some time back (Tunnie - was it 2.5 or 3.5yrs back - I remember it was between Christmas and New Year, and bloody cold ;D)

Can't remember, long time ago now! Still I'll be looking for help on my 3.2 zorst soon ::)

Not really allowed to lift too much until I've had a scan, but can offer a 2nd set of hands for holding stuff :)

Cheers though :y
Going to have to order one soon, just concerned that 2.5 back box has less flow inside? :-\

Thanks :y
Looks same build as Eternal for centres, think I will give them a go :)

Orders, they need a scan to ascertain if its more serious than first thought. Certainly, there is nerve damage around the spine, which is scary enough to make me obey.

On GM and Eternal, purely cosmetic.

The cheapest I could find is the Longlife franchise at Carshalton. They have quoted me £399. Everyone else seems to want £500+ to keep to the original twin layout. I am all for getting the Eternal exhaust, but its trying to get them to pick up the friggin phone and get an order through that is driving me mad. Hence the thought of getting someone else to sort it out for me. Imagine the hassle if something goes wrong with the Eternal delivery? I cant afford to be hanging about for even longer to get a replacement. Also remember, I am dependent on buying the exhaust and then getting someone to fit it. Too many variables to juggle presently, hence the Longlife route.
-
Order an exhaust then bring it over to Dartford. I have a friend here who can fit it for you.
That way you can potentially have a new exhaust delivered and fitted with change from £150.
Simples!
-
Thats very kind of you Murph. I think I may just take you up on that offer. As soon as I can order an exhaust.
-
No probs fella.
-
Had mine Longlife fitted 4 yrs ago
It is the 1 centre box setup
This makes it a lot easier for me when working under miggy(far more room between components)
They moved the cat sensors when they did the job at my request allthough there was'nt any TC probs
I find the sound just right for me
Should be
They can within reason tune to what you what you want
Miggy's is a soft murmur (not a moan) under normal driving and when pushed gives a restrained growl
Cost was 400 plus and included a nice chrome twin tailpipe on the backbox
To get this I had to slightly twist their arm
I'd recommend them anytime
-
Its interesting that actual owners seem to have no negative comments about them. As opposed to Powerflow who seem to have quite a few dissatisfied customers.
-
Order via their shop. Always been hassle free for me. And if you sign up to topcashback (http://www.topcashback.com/ref/TheBoy) you'll get a few quid back.
To call, you *HAVE* to call on the times stated on the shop banner.
Obviously, it makes no odds to me - I just hate seeing people pay way over the odds for poor quality, bodged on exhausts.
-
Cheeky monkey, TCB referral link eh. ;D I use TCB as well, love it, just gone past £1000 mark today with a netflix sign on. I will heed your advice, o great one.

Dug out my old post on when I went to Longlife in Carshalton in April 2011, sorry but it's from the old site:
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1301696512
Just to reiterate I had no issue getting the system matched, like for like, i.e. dual pipes all the way. Looking at the pictures I think they weren't lazy and welded straight onto the cat, they bolted on.
All came in at about £350 in the end after I just asked for a discount via e-mail and got one. Once price was agreed, via head office, it was honoured at the branch.
