EML flashing for 30 seconds then on,cars runs a it rough on tick over and sounds like a slight misfire upto 3000 rpm, filled up with supermarket petrol but just topped up with super unleaded today £25.Anyone have an idea on what it could possibly be...?

I would start by removing the coil packs and inspecting them for corossion, and the plug wells for oil & water. :y

I'd see what the car thinks is wrong first, perform the 'pedal trick'.
-
That too. :y ;D

Could you please tell me the "pedal trick" procedure, :y

Thanks all,will give it a try.... :y

What mileage has yours done? Mine has been behaving in a similar fashion for the last 65k, still not much wiser :-\ with any luck you'll get more than a mere 0300 random multiple misfire :-\
If the car behaves once turned off and restarted, suspect electrical problem :y
First port of call is, as suggested, codes followed by coil packs and plugs :y
Double check all the vacuum connections for leaks, the ECU will try to compensate to keep the engine running, but it cannot control airleaks no matter how small.
Last resort could be the loom, but hopefully the pedal trick will show up something definitive and that will be it sorted :y

Mine has done 119000,the pedal test came up 0300 can anyone shed any light, :y

As code suggests, random misfires. History of plug changes? Check the plug wells for oil/water :y

Only had the car 5/6 weeks bought it off a fellow oofer, think oil/filter changed in feb not sure about plugs,I don't do great mileage maybe 6 mile round trip to work/home and couple of trips to my parents 20 mile round 3 times a week,so it's not seeing the motorway much. :y

or 1/3/5 coil pack ::)

Pop out the bank1, drivers side coilpack :y
You're looking for any of the following:
1. Evidence of water or oil in the plug wells, especially the middle one, plug 3.
2. Cracking or corrosion on the visible surfaces of the coil pack.
3. Loose plugs, again plug 3 in particular.
4. Any sign that the wiring to the coil pack plug is breaking down, either brittle or corroded.
Solutions, see maintainance guides for how tos:
1. If water, dry out and also re seal the scuttle.
If oil then the cam cover gaskets need doing along with the breathers.
2. Replace the coilpack, they can look pretty shabby and be fine, but if alot of rust and cracking replace it.
3. Tighten the plugs.
4. Last resort this one, and for now unlikely, new loom.
For peace of mind if you find 1,2 or 3, check the other side :y
