Does anyone have any spring compressors I can borrow if I pay the postage both ways?
-
given the price of em...about a tenner upwards, prob cheaper to buy new?
-
For the front?
No need for the rear.
£10 to £15 from any factors. Maybe even Halfords. :-\

Depends what you buy. I bought Teng (http://www.stockwelltools.co.uk/product.php/site/froogle/sn/AT200) , though I didn't pay quite this much. ;)

Mmm? :-\ £10 for a cheap compressor + £200 each for a dental crown vs £40 for a decent 3 legged spring compressor ::) ::)

I don't use them Mr P.
Wiz the top off with a windy. See how far i can fire the shock with foot on the spring. ;D
Lowered springs don't need compressors from 30mm drop. ;)
-
I bought some in the end, as the Pikey Pensioner (Auto Addict) ruined my homemade ones on his car ;D
I was always dubious of my welds though, hence buying some this time ;D

Think I bought these ones earlier in the year....more than man enough

TBH, as long as they are given the respect they deserve then the cheaper ones are OK ;)

For that money, I prefer the Clarke ones which have the little locks to prevent the hooks rotating off the spring

like these....? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Clarke-CHT224-3-piece-Coil-Spring-Compressor-/150826462475?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item231df52d0b
Either way....theres enough out there at around / little over the price of 2 x postage which I guess would be £5-6 each way.

Just like those. Although I paid around £20, vat free day obviously.
I concur, given the postage, purchasing is a far better option.
If I was going to Mum's any time soon, I could drop a set off at Sam Burtons, as I can drive past the village, but thats not happening for at least 2 months...

If its just a "once use" needed take both shocks/springs off complete and take to local garage with a nice crisp £10 note. ;)
Wave it under mechanics nose and then return home with springs replaced and then just need refitting.
Assuming you will only be doing this job the once ;D
