Afternoon guys & girls,
Del's youngest son here; yesterday my dad had a mini stroke according to the doctor, he's alright now, and sort of as normal, but he has been urgently referred to the Stroke ward in our hospital, so he'll be up there within the next couple of days. Just wanted to let you all know, and ask if any of you had any advice that was all?
Thanks, Liam.
-
Pass on my regards please bud, wishing you a speedy full recovery del. :y

Just send him all the best for a speedy recovery and to embrace any change in lifestyle as recommended by the specialists.
I've been there, just keep slipping off the wagon, ;D ;D but did pack in smoking :y

Thanks people, very much appreciated by all of us and him :y.
-
Aah, that's upsetting news indeed Liam, please give Del all my very best wishes for a speedy recovery to good health.
In terms of the last part of your post, I would suggest that your dad listens carefully to the medical advice he gets and follows it - bearing in mind that, with the right attitude and understanding, he can help himself enormously.
When a warning (such as this stroke) is given, there's no point in ignoring it and tempting fate by trying to carry on much as before.
-
Wish him well and also a very speedy recovery.... :y
-
Sounds like it was caught quickly, my grandfather has had a number of small strokes and is still around to tell the tale. just make sure he does as the doctor tells him and he will be back on his feet in no time :y
-
Liam, you have my number and contact details. If either of you need any help or advice feel free to get in touch ;)
Best wishes to your father for a speedy recovery and tell him to do as he's told :y
-
Sorry to hear this. Hope he recovers quickly.Tell him to remember that a mini stroke can be a warning, and as others said,he will need to take the medical advice seriously and change whatever needs changing regarding lifestyle to ensure he stays healthy. :y
If he is a smoker, tell him as of now he is an ex smoker. ;)
-
He's feeling a bit better now still not 100% though, luckily he's not a smoker; thanks for all the nice comments, much appreciated :).
-
get well soon del from all the ozzys
-
Get well soon fellow Oofer. :y :y
-
bah eck del,as everyones saying do as the doctors say and treat this as a serious warning.all the best in a speedy recovery :-*
-
Liam please also pass on my regards to your Dad, has he not realised that driving a beemer is dangerous enough!? ::) ;D
Seriously though the only advice I can give is that recovery from a stroke is a long process so make sure your dad does not try and do everything he used to be able to. In extreme cases stroke sufferers have to relearn many of the basics including eating. Thankfully, and I guess from your tone that he may not be that bad but still he must take it slowly. He will recover better for it in the long run. :y
-
Hope your Dad makes a speedy recovery Liam, pass my best wishes on to him :y
-
