Is it possible to get a vehicles buid date from the VIN at all?

I know there is a year and sequence number - but can you get a date from that all?

found most of the migs have a stick under the carpet between the glove box and floor on pass side, has date completed and inspectors name and time.

Fair point - but aren't these date stickers the dates that the components were made? Another place is on wiring harnesses.

If you're only after a rough date, there's a data label stitched on the seatbelts near the lower anchor bolts :y as I understand it the belts are made shortly before fitting :y
