Title: Alternator Amps
Post by: Anthony in Madrid on 11 August 2012, 13:46:20
Hi everyone
My Omega is a 98 2.5V6 manual petrol.
How ya doin?
I have a small problem that i hop someone can shine a lighty on...
Started the day off with a break light fuse blowing and now my battery light is permanently on so I checked the battery and it's still charging 12v fine so obviously there is more than likely an alternator problem as the air con and windows don't function, and the onboard computer doesn't kick in unless I push the button on the windscreen wiper arm to select the modeSs. My question is that how do i know which amp my alternator is (70 or 120)? Because i want to look at buying a second hand one on line. the workshop are going to check it out on monday so I guess a replacement will be needed. There are a few for sale on-line but not sure which I need.  Feel free to suggest possible problems to check out before I get the mechanics to fit another alternator.

Best Regards
Ant
