For the last 2 yrs/18months
I've tried all way's to cure very indefinite operation of my pair of remote 2 button locking/unlocking key fobs
Some worked for a time but returned to almost key chucking frustration
New batteries
Dealer ones and cheapo ones
2 lots of replacement sides with the rubber buttons on from ebay(OE I think)
Obviously I think I've tried all comments on here short of messing with the circuit boards
Anyhow thought I'd try the led response at various stages of assembly
Turned out that with only the button side and circuit board assembled
If one supported the battery(with finger)
There was a very positive response from the led
This has led me to what I think is a reasonably final solution
Had 3 weeks of faultless positive use
Just tried a distance check and get a result from 30ft away from rear of miggy
What did I finally finish up doing?
Simples
Filled the void between battery and the key side with a soft springy foam
I used foam off one of these oblong pan scrubs
Turned out to be about 7mm thickness was required
As already said had lot's of use (been on holiday with miggy)
And never missed a beat
So I thought if anyones suffering
I'ts an easy enough fix to try
With very little risk attached

sounds like the battery holder is partially disconnected (usual fail)
Easily solved with 2 seconds and a soldering iron :y

Replacing the pin is the best solution, IMHO, so a bit longer than 2s ;D
Although I'm sure Cliffo B will keep his with his fix, as it seems to work well for him :D

I keep meaning to find some replacement battery holders. Did make one attempt and failed. :(

Well Yes.
That said, ive seen tissue used etc a good few times to apply enough pressure to make the connection, works well enough

But absorbs any holds and moisture, which isn't ideal...

Ah thanks everybody for your usual helpfull info/comments :y :y
Did'nt figure out it was the battery clips that are the problem
Allthough I'm not the worlds best with a soldering iron
Now fairly sure I can expect a reccurance of the problem
Sure took the wind out of my sails :D :D ;D
Just a question of how long
Will have to see how they go
Least I have 2 to play with
I think I'll invest in a more up to date solder kit and in my case I'll need a bench magnifier
I'll revive this topic as and when
To let you know how I go on
Once again thanks at least I get time to shop for the tackle ;D ;D

Yup, see how it goes Cliffo B. Its not the end of the world if it does work - you can always use key, even if the alarm does upset the neighbours ;D
It may last for ages as it is now, but if you used foam, try to keep it away from sources of moisture, obviously.

Thanks :y :y
So dangleing from my on belt key chain in sweaty trouser pocket :o :D :( ;D ;D
(present from my sister's tram conductering days) 8)
Which cured my key loseing habit :-[
Is not going to help :'(
Just have to do a relocation job :y :y :y
