i`ve got a crazy idea going round me head i`m thinking of putting a straight six into a miggy off maybe a carlton or senny and i know you lot out there are a fountain of knowledge...its just an idea at the moment so set me right guys...either buy an mv6 and mod it or put a straight six in a miggy and go a different road??? pitfalls and ideas would help plz :D :D :-/ [smiley=mig.gif]
-
to be honest the straight six is a bit old hat now bud ! get a mv6 and you may be well happy !! :y or pop a lotus carlton straight six in there !! 8-) 8-)
-
only if its a 3.6 twin turbo (which apparently has already been done !) otherwise why bother :-/
-
straight sixes do have an appeal......and a bloody nice engine note
If i were doing it i would be looking for a 24V version or a 3.6 twin turbo, yes it has been done, but that doesn't stop anyone else from doing it

i want sumat different that i`m gonna own for quite sum time...
-
well if you want something different ,then why not.i do love the old straight six.i was just saying that logically you would have a lot of work with no real gain . but if you want to do it to have some thing different then it might be worth it because you want to do it (if that makes sense) :)
-
yep that makes sense... :o i just want to get me hands dirty i miss building bikes with me old mates.. we once built a suzi gs1000 to go earlystock racing but it got stolen by the local scrots and fire bombed... :( :(

Now thats wot i`m talking about....that really would put a smile on anyones face...at the proper places of course i.e. track days... 8-)

Problem is that'll have low compression, if genuine, so without the turbos it wouldn't pull the skin off a wet rice pudding. Find some manifolds and turbos, or fit some pistons that'll give it a respectable compression ratio and it could be fun. Needs a good bit of work and expense either way.
Although the V6 is a superior engine in every respect, there's "something about" the straight 6. :-/

What about the handling? When you look at the V6 in the Omega it's as far back as possible in the engine bay, if you look at the S6 in a Senator / Carlton it fills the length of the bay.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that some of the engine weight in an S6 is infront of the front wheels.
-
Yep. Handling would certainly be compromised by shifting the weight forwards.

you see thats wot i love about this forum..you ask a Q? and within mins you`ve got people thinkin bout the possibilties... :)
-
Omegatoy will be the one to explain the handling of an Omega with 3.6 twin turbo engine...
