Post by: Bob G on 18 August 2012, 17:39:39
Took the car for MOT today flew through all parts apart from emissions fast idle CO level 0.60% second fast idle CO level 0.51%, took it to good old James who kindly looked at it for me and found 1 pipe disconnected and 2 split pipes, said you could hear the hissing with bonnet up now you cant, so fingers crossed that is is sorted all ready for monday.

Keep us posted Bob.

Reference the emissions, it was just the CO levels that were up. The HCs were fine.

The large pipe that goes directly from the throttle body to the carbon purge canister was split to buggery and hissing like a goodun.

Replaced that - and also replaced the spark plugs which were all finger tight.

Hopefully that's the cause! Just remember to take it for a good thrashing directly before the test and present it with the engine still hot :y :y
