Title: Injector pump help-2.2 turbo diesel engine transplant
Post by: Taximan on 20 August 2012, 19:13:48
Hi,
Want to transplant my old 2.2 turbo diesel lump to give the old girl new life.
I gather that there could be compatability problems between injector pump and ECU.
So... should I    a.   try swapping injector pumps over when engines are out ?    or
                      b.   try swapping electronic box, therefore leaving pump in situ ?   or
                      c.   get man with laptop to extract data before swap, and reboot the thing when completed ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm well out of my depth.

Thanks and regards,

Taximan

Don't try option a unless you are competent with setting it back up again ;) It's not an easy job ;)

Not entirely sure that the pumps on these are matched to the ECU but someone more knowledgeable on the oil burners will hopefully answer. If you swap the ECU you'll probably have to change/program the immobiliser chips to it anyway so I'd be thinking option c.

But, like I said, I don't know the diesels that well so worth holding on for someone who does to give an answer ;)
