Title: Rag and bone man,
Post by: alfie on 22 August 2012, 14:46:08
Hi all,had the misfortune yesterday of trying to fix my belle cement mixer, earlier this month lend to a mate in perfect working order.
Anyway I failed to seperate the drum from the gearbox, and thought bugger this, placed it out side my back gate to dispose of later.Within an hour it was gone, isn't the scrap value great for getting rid of junk.

I've had my old washing machine sat on the front step for a fortnight... waiting for someone to come and thieve recycle it. Nothing.. going to have to drag it to the tip myself!

Stick a For Sale, $20 sign on it.
It will soon be gone.

;D Probably - actually I'm taking this as a good sign, I live down a slightly out-of-the-way dead end and if it hasn't been nicked that probably means nobody bothers coming down here looking for things to thieve! (Like the stack of alloys that lived in the garden for a year which didn't get nicked either)

Too late now anyway, just hauled it down the tip with the help of my dear old dad  :y

Isn't it nice to have a different class of pikey ;D

I'd a selection of front and rear suspension arms partially hidden at the front of the house, they actually rang the bell to ask if they could take them :o suffice to say, they're now in the garage ::)

Put an old cooker on the drive to load into the Estate to take to the tip - when I got home it had gone - least it saved me a journey ::)

...keep asking them to take the elite but they refuse...

I've just used the services of one of the local gangs of scrap metal men to shift a near bare Mv6 shell for me, they paid me eighty bucks for the privilege...

Round our way they are pretty good and do ask before taking anything. One chap even leaves his card with a phone number and will pick stuff up the same day if you call him. ;) :y

I had a tenant leave a load of stuff, mostly crap when he moved out, but there was an old cooker and leaky washing machine.  ::)  Two young lads happened by in a beaten up Trannie pickup looking for scrap, and I said if they cleared out the place they could have the cooker and washing machine!  ;)  They did a great job and luckily left the boiler behind!  :)
