Hi everyone ;)
as you may or not know, my EML light keeps flashing up intermittently when i drive the car
its very random and happens just when it wants to >:(
i did a paperclip test and its showing error codes 21 and 61
would this explain the EML light and also that when the EML light is on, i seem to lose acceleration at 2000 revs or higher, then when the light goes off, boom! off she goes again like a rocket (well almost lol)
how do i fix it? i have as much knowledge as a dead pigeon! ::)
i`ll put a video i took on my iphone of the flashing sequence, just incase i got error codes wrong :o

Codes are here ... at least i hope this is the right one ..

12 , 16 and 31 i think
31 will be cause engines not running .
-
so, hopefully my problem is i need a knock sensor, and i have a brand new Bosch one in my boot! yippeeeeeeeee
31 is NO RPM yeah?
and 12 is start of the codes?
16 is knock signal or someat
;D
-
Lucky you have one already .
-
yeah, but error code 16, which knock sensor is it?
drivers side or passenger side and whereabouts is it located exactly?
any pictures anywhere?

Bank 1 knock sensor plugs in just above the cable tray that goes across cambelt. The knock sensor is down by the alternator. The wire for it is/should be routed along the top of the cam cover. Check for any damage to the cable (co-ax type) easily repaired. Been known to rub against aux belt as well. Knock sensor fault will lose about 30% engine power

awesome!
how long to find it, fit it and cure my probs?
is it best to replace both knock sensors just incase other one goes?
or just the faulty one?
oh, and anyone on here wanna do it for me for some cash?

5 minutes.
They`re bulletproof Wayne. I`d be inclined to thoroughly inspect the cable

okay mate, can i do it from top of car or do i have to get under the car?

As RobG says, often cable gets damaged by kack handed mechanics, or on the aux belt. The sensor itself is very robust. Attempt a repair on the cable.
Symptoms - above about 2000rpm, you will feel the car holding back.

Had a similar code flash up on my a while ago for no apparant reason.
I traced it back to what I think was a tank full of dodggy fuel from out of area Supermarket.Put £30 worth of super-unleaded in and problem has never come back inspite of returning to cheapo :-X :-X :-X !!! standard unleaded :y
-
yeah thats it! my car holds back at 2000 rpm or more,
will get it sorted somehow
running super unleaded on a V6 Omega?
make any difference?
i avoid supermarket fuels anyway
in fact, i have been using standard unleaded at Sainsburys for ages in Oxford and when i filled up with BP, the problem didn't occur for about 350 miles, then boom its back! fuel? knock sensor? who knows ??? ::)
i`ll try and fix it anyway, or put the new one on
