Title: Parking sensors.
Post by: Brikhead on 24 August 2012, 13:28:39
A few weeks ago the Bosch ParkPilot system fitted as standard to my Mv6 started to play up, after selecting reverse the usual warning tone would sound for a second then be replaced by a lower continuous tone.
I checked all fuses but in the end disconnected the wiring looms to the control box in the boot as I could find nothing amiss and the noise was annoying, also I've managed just fine for the last 20 years by using the mirrors!

I've just reconnected the wiring looms and the problem still persists.

I have followed the wires back and found a component that looks like a normal automotive fuse but it has a resistor fitted where the fusible link is normally found. Also in this area are two wires, one black and one black with a white line, these wires have spade connectors which enable them to be joined.
After connecting these wires it seems the parking sensors are now working normally, even when the wires are disconnected.

My question is should the black and black/white wires be left permanently connected or not?

Thanks in advance,
Rich.

Have the same issue.

Did you try joining the black wires together? That may fix your problem, they are located near the n/s rear light, you may need to remove the plastic trim from around the boot catch area.

My sensors seem to be working fine now so I decided to leave the wires detached as thats how I found them but it would be good to know their purpose.

The resistor is used to trigger the test sequence.

I don't know why it hasn't been turned into a maintenance guide :-\

Thank's for that, I did try and use the search feature and Google first but revealed nothing as useful as the link you provided. :y

Was shown at the Newent meet that when you connect the black/white wires the parking sensors speaker volume is decreased
Hope this helps.

Still not sure what the 2 violet wires do?
I am thinking that these have something to do with a OE trailer hitch?

I think I read somewhere that there are two wires that should go to a switch in the trailer hitch to disable the reversing sensors. Maybe that would be the black/white wires?

No the black/white wires are to adjust the speaker volume.  :y
