Well guys im now at a cross roads  :-\Ive  had my mig for nearly 2 years now and the time has come to decide restore it lot of money involved here :-X or flog it and buy some thing newer. To put everything right including new tyres wouldnt leave much change out of £800 :o,I see a 3.2 has been listed by a member in Borehamwood,just down the road from me how much extra is that to tax. Will gladly welcome any suggestions  :y

 £800 over two years, thats pretty cheap motoring :y

I agree with Al.
If your car has served you will up to now then it surely deserves an £800 overhaul, giving you another few years of happy motoring.

And cheaper than replacing it too.

Depends if you'll be better off after everything is sorted on the new one. Who's to know what it needs ....? Quite possibly not dissimilar to the one you have now....?


Iirc you mentioned it needed shocks and springs last year....?

This crops up quite often though mostly people deciding wether to scrap their car or spend money on it.

After you have spent your £800 you know the car and its history. Might give you another two years trouble free motoring.
Buying another (even from an ad on the forum which I haven't read) you have an unknown proposition. In other words it might be great or in 12 months time you might be looking at £800 of repairs.

Someone on here once said Omegas are becoming disposable cars meaning buy them taxed and tested and run them till the repairs outweigh the scrap value..........

The way I look at it is whatever make of car you buy, I bet it will need something doing to it. I have heard of friends of mine laying out £800 for repairs to fairly new cars at todays prices. :( And all cars have to have tyres at some point :)

Yes, maybe our cars are old now, but as someone else said, £800 to repair is less than buying !!!!! :y And you know that all has been done to bring it to tip top nick :y

after many years I concluded that every second hand buy is a russian roulette unless you know the car and owner :-\

Thanks for all your advise guys, in that case will keep it.since removing,as Chris puts it Chav exhaust ;D and fitting Oh so Quiet Eternal just love the V6 super smooth Lump ;) looks like Im going to get to experience what the suspension set up felt like when she rolled off factory floor,bulk of work lies in this area :y

Get yourself upto WIM in Chesham for that - money well spent  :y

I think you have made the right decision BTW. I've been horrified at some of the bills that family members have had with VW products - seemingly "quality products" - not when they just get out of warranty and the dealer aint interested any more ....... That however is another story altogether and one which I'm glad that I'm on the outside looking in ......
