Title: in-built satnav
Post by: bellers on 25 August 2012, 00:06:24
just bought another omega yesterday after selling the mv6 back in november. its a preface lift 3.0 elite.

its got a philips satnav in the dash, when i turn it on it says to insert a cd. ill probably never use it but would be nice to get it working. is it a matter of finding this cd and putting it in cd changer or does it need subscription/license from vauxhall

thanks
jonny

Navteq stopped producing disks for this in around 2008, although due to age of system, the last few map disks for it were quite slow. I seem to recall that the later map disks needed a firmware update.

CDR's knacker these systems quite quickly.  Not sure what versions I have knocking about now, as I've long since removed the CARiN units from my cars.

Just checked, only pressed CD I have is 1998. A 14yr old map is pretty pointless.

Burning at a slow speed on a top quality writer using top quality media may reduce the strain on the laser, but it will still knacker it ;)

14 year old map is pretty out dated even her in northern ireland. but it is only to get it working for the novelty of it
