Title: This seems cheap... Any good???
Post by: Lazydocker on 18 April 2008, 17:00:38

And before you all start shouting about genuine Vx parts, I just thought I'd ask!!

It seems too cheap for a good kit and think I'll go Vx but thought I'd get the experts opinions!  :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/

There are certain parts that have been proven time and again are only to be bought from Vx, and cam cover gaskets are one of those.

Buying non genuine gaskets simply gives you good practice at doing the job, as you will need to do it again within a very short space of time.

OK... Do we know who actually makes the Vx set??? The ad claims that they are made by the Vx suppliers. I'm not just going to jump at them but...

Elring ARE a supplier to Vauxhall....  but not a supplier of cam cover seals.

One giveaway is that they come in a single piece and the little bridging sections need to be cut out with a stanley knife.

That's not what the description says! Distinctly says 2 seperate parts plus the o rings. That was why I was asking the question. I know Elring parts are good quality so thought it worth checking!

It says Oxo on Buses, but they don't sell it.......
Try them mate, but like already said some things are better got from Vauxhall.
I wouldn't get another crank sensor either again from anywhere other than VX :y

How long ago did you fit them? I must admit i'm tempted to give them a go... At that price i can do them twice before getting to same cost.

I was going to get the kit from the oof shop but was too slow.  :( :( :'( :'(

Thinking about it, i'll be taking the plenum off again in the not too distant future when I LPG the car so I can always change them again if I have to!

I made the mistake of not taking the advice on here. I got these exact gaskets and they started leaking again within 3 months.
Complete waste of money!!! I personally was gutted at the waste of time, money and effort.
They were done again using vx gaskets and it stayed dry.

Thanks for that... Like I said, i was just asking! Genuine Vx it is then! Out of interest, any chance of the shop having the kit back in stock in time for me to get them in my grubby mitts before the end of the month?
