2.2 omega. My mechanic couldnt find leak, Can do a 150 mile trip with no leak, but when you park up there id a loss of 1-2 litres, short journeys need top up every time. have used radweld with no effect. Mechanic said he thnks could be the matrix. Any ideas? or is he most probably correct?

when you turn the heater on you will feel a sweet coolant smell.. or there will be some mist on windscreen (obviously you cant distinguish on a cold day) and when the leak increases you will see some wet on carpets (drivers side)

Check for the radiator area leaking. Mine was loosing coolant from joint of fan switch and radiator and now developed one from the same looking thingy just some 6/7 inches under fan switch.
It's also leaking only when the engine is cooling down, probably just needs a new seal or to be tightened a bit but I can't reach in there with any tool I have. So unreachable an no space around it

I was getting wet carpet, but mechanic undid a drain hose, problem gone now, although that was passenger side, and yes very slight misting lower corners of screen. So are you saying matrix problem, the drips under car are in line with dash.

Possibly , check the HBV for leaks ... Radweld not recommended can cause further issues :y

Due to blocked scuttle drain http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90535.0
Check the HBV (heater bypass valve) black "starship" shape plastic valve lives at rear of engine. Look to the right of the brake servo, 2 hoses coming out from bulkhead, follow both down and you`ll see the HBV.
Once leak found and rectified you`ll need a coolant flush to get rid of the shite commonly known as Radweld
