Title: Ebay Chips, any good?
Post by: Decky on 15 April 2008, 11:50:34
Noticed a couple of these ecu chips for sale on ebay.

Just wanting to know if there's any truth in what they claim to be a 20+BHP increase in power.

Anyone ever bought one before?

I think their claimed power gains are wishful thinking..

TBH, it's probably better to buy in the UK from someone who is able to support their product. Reports of chips from ebay have been variable.

i have one fitted to my mv6 and it only cost £24 pounds ;D and it definately makes a real difference at about 4-4.5 k when the second dual ram thingy opens mine really takes off and i have tried changed back to stock and noticed a fairly big  drop in power and it makes the car easier on fuel aswell which is no bad thing with the price of it these days, mine was from germany but not one of these sellers but i would expect that they are all the same, the one i bought was £45 or best offer and i offered £22+"2 postage and was delivered 3-4 days later no problems , anyway at that sort of money its worth the risk in my opinion :)

Having used them 'back to back' i can safely say the cheap e-bay chip gives the same performance increase as the M-Tek one, so either the cheap ones are fantastic value for money or the M-Tek one is faulty in some way.

Well worth a punt for £30 and if its crap just slap the GM one back in

I keep on looking at these. One thing that always puzzles me is that they quote the starting BHP to be 211, is it not 207? If they can't get the BHP right then I'm guessing they are not that reliable a source to be buying the chips from?

Its a European seller, 211PS is approx 207BHP, so technically its not that far wrong

You can't chip the 2.6 you have to have it re-mapped instead ;)
