I think that's the aubergine red mica and looks lovely in the flesh. There was a brown but i've only seen it on mini facelift MV6 and its called antelope again I thought it looked nice ::)

A friend of mine has an MV6 in Antelope, wouldn't be my first choice of colour but it's not that bad,I could live with it.

I think that colour is called Persia Mica - colour code will tell you exactly - quite a rare colour and looks lovely when the car is clean and it polishes up very well.  It was more of a vectra colour but put it into google images and you can see a few more examples.

As for the rear end damage I would be wary - he hasn't put any pics of the rear of the car on the listing so it must be quite noticable and it would be worth spending £20 on a HPI check as it may well be recorded as Cat D.

Plenty of straight Omega's around for that money so you can afford to be fussy.

Ah, but V5s tend to be filled out by partially sighted people.

It means it worth nowhere near £970 for a start. If the seller knew he should have told you,as cars which have been an insurance loss will go through life having a lower value than those which dont,If your paying top whack for a car (which you certainly are) then It would have been better to have done the checks before commiting to buy.
If I were in your position I would either inform the seller of what you have found out and tell him your no longer interested,or offer him a max. of £500.
If you end up not buying the car, keep an eye on ebay to see if it gets relisted. If the cat D problem isnt mentioned in the relisting, report the seller to ebay for deiliberately misdescribing the car.

Probably a wise decision. Ebay can be a minefield when buying cars.Particularily if your new to that type of car.
Have you had a look in the for sale secion here ? There could be something of interest in there. :-\

Ive just had a look and there doesnt seem to be any facelift cars for sale at the moment, which is unusual. It might pay to be patient and wait a while for the right car. You can get a nice Omega for £1000 if you take your time and do your homework. :y

Oh dear that sounds like one to miss - your quite within your rights to reject the car as he has withheld critical information.  The repair sounds like it hasn't been completed to an acceptable standard standard anyway so don't waste money even going to see it.

If 2.5/3.0 could be sticky ICV or vac leak, vibration could be rear wheels/tyres out of balance

Pig to work on compared to the straight 6's  :(

What V6 do you have? Worth updating your profile with your car details, as issues like this need to know which engine you have as there are considerable differences between earlier and later engines  :y

3.0  fl  2000  model
Title: Re: omega elite
Post by: tunnie on 01 September 2012, 14:27:36
3.0 has an ICV (idle control valve)

Make sure thats nice and clean, see the guide for instructions. Look for the guide into how to read the codes via "paperclip test".

I'd also start with a good service, air filter, plugs, oil, breathers  :y

how are the breathers done  thanks
